Are pieces worth the prices

Interesting as I would have assumed that IF / SI grading, when in the description, applied to all diamonds in the piece.

The IF/SI applies to all but which are which. I always assume that the smallest stones r the ones with the higher grade but of course just having ONE stone with the higher grade would entitle them to put that description as far as I know. It drives me crazy. Another thing I hate is when they say SI but for the colour they put white. Isn’t that obvious. I suppose in those instances we must assume they are not G/H but I/J.

It does me too. Flipping lazy inventory management or a deliberate omission to create a loophole. I can't decide which.

It matters not one jot what the Presenter says during the auction, if asked. If the product details have an empty 'Clarity' value on all diamonds except those that match the clarity in the description, you take a risk that, when the product arrives, the other diamonds are listed on the certificate as I grade. They then have your money in their bank account for the time it takes you to return it and get refunded. Try getting your P&P back on that scenario, as well.

I've seen "White" as well. You have to assume it's anything all the way to Black or Brown, unfortunately these days.

Toby did an 'Indicolite' show earlier today. As usual, the rarity and price per carat were brought up.

Apparently, this is 'Indicolite'.

Some of the stones in the rings were as green as Chrome Diopside.

That is NOT Indicolite.

Ironically, On the Gem Collector website, they have a 'Gemstone Learning Library' page dedicated to Indicolite. These are the photos they show:

So if they're not deliberately trying to mislead, why is there such a HUGE colour discrepancy between these photos - all used by the same company?

Indicolite should be a deep Blue hue that is similar in tone to London Blue Topaz. It is NOT green!

I totally agree they are selling green tourmaline that has a hint of teal in it. I have some Mutuca indicolite pieces and they are green in colour.

Jeff showed an indicolite colour chart a few weeks back during his indicolite presentation which I tried to find online, as it didn’t seem right. I finally found it on an ebay listing for indicolite

I have loose lagoon tourmaline and it’s the peacock dreamy blue green colour. That’s what indicolite is to me.

The rings in the attached that came up in a web search are indicolite- and the calibre they sell in Loriques. The green tourmaline isn’t indicolite in my opinion.

True Indicolite should be deep blue with no green at all.

Blue Tourmaline with a secondary green hue is borderline in my opinion.

Pure green, or green with a very slight secondary blue hue is not Indicolite.

Some of the stuff they had on earlier was pure Green. No hint of blue whatsoever.

Yes, guessing the name indicolite borrows from “indigo”? Here is the gemporia “indicolite” earring and the Itatiaia tourmaline ring against my lagoon tourmaline from gemrock auctions. Indicolite from gemporia is bottle green!

Just curious if it's just me on the infamous Lightbox vs reality.

Declared as I3, the live presentation of the "this glorious half a carat ice white diamond pendant" proves it. No quibble there. Look at the video, is it me or does it appear as if you can see inside some of the stones?

(1.3g metal, £120 + £5 P&P in clearance...)

Hand on heart, no messing, gosh I think this is super expensive at £200 final price. I'm quite shocked. If you do a search, ignoring all the obvious fakes and dodgy sites, this very thing can be available for a quarter of that (or less).

The next two pieces DT showed were another dragon and the most basic snake labradorite that really is available everywhere. Heck, there's a Wholesaler based in Cambridge that can source the first dragon piece for you.

I should not be surprised but this is so highly priced it took my breath away. I have two pieces, one attached, that was nowhere near that price.

Considering it was only 9k gold and the description was vague - stating just 'White' as the colour (which is not how diamonds are graded) - plus the title claimed 'VVS clarity' while the small print in the description stated 'VVS'-'VS', I'd say they were very expensive.

If I'm paying that much for jewellery, I want to know exactly what I'm getting - vague descriptions just don't cut it.

I find Diamonds to be completely over-rated though personally, so maybe I'm being harsh over overly critical. Perhaps someone that is more 'neutral' towards Diamonds might find them more value for money.
