I would like to start a discussion about a particular aspect of Rocks Chat that has concerned me recently.
I have noticed that it seems to have become (for some) an advertising board. Now we all have to make a living and if you have your own business (as I do - I am the proud owner of a 4 store chain of home interior shops) of course you want to boost its profile etc at every given opportunity, particularly during these terribly difficult times, but the last thing I would ever do would be to walk into Habitat and ask them to give out flyers for my shops with each purchase their customers make.
I find it distasteful and disrespectful that there are those who are using Rocks Chat to promote their own Jewellry outlets and services and stating that their goods are superior to those on screen. What I consider even more concerning is that there is an occasional meek comment from the presenter requesting this kind of talk cease, but nothing strong enough to actually make those involved stop these conversations altogether, presumably to ensure the custom of these people is not lost.
I appreciate this must be an absolute minefield for Rocks to navigate because the last thing they want to do is alienate their customer base, but it is frustrating and annoying for everyone else that this happens (and I apologise for referring to an individual here, really I do as I don't want to pick on or single people out!) especially when the most prolific perpitrator barks request orders constantly in the chat, almost all of which seem to be on screen within 20 minutes, while those of us that are respectful and conduct ourselves appropriately on the chat making our requests in the appropriate manner can wait 2 or 3 days before we see anything.
I realise that I am getting somewhat sensitive in my old age, but please, is it just me? The self promotion conversations frustrate and annoy me, as manners cost nothing at the end of the day, but the consistant requests that are being granted so quickly is almost rubbing salt into the wounds.
If it is just me, and I am noticing something that isn't really there (and it wouldn't be the first time!) then please tell me!
