Thanks Janie for your message. One good thing about living in a village, I was going to ask the locals-judge, mayor, police-all women! as they should know. Before, in a city, someone from the shelter came to pick-up the items from my home, after I made enquiries at a local charity; keeping their location secret. I think it would be great if you could donate "any extras". (((hugs-from-da-Snarly)))

(((snarly))) i was actually discussing this with an american friend recently and told her i have clothing i need to clear out and some still has tags  she donates to a women's shelter in the states and she said they are really grateful for brand new clothing because they like to give it to women who are going for say, job interviews.

on a similar theme, she is a real bookworm and has masses of books. years ago she did a short stint in jail for possession of marihuana (they are v hot on it in the state where she lives). she doesn't complain but commented that when she was inside, the prison library had about 3 books with half the pages missing etc  anyway, she is just in the process of donating a huge pile of books to them :clapping: maybe women's shelters would like books too.

Hey everyone, my heart is tickled with your responses. Great ideas and info. Imagine if we could make ShoppingTellyForumDonations to a local charity, women's shelter or prison and had a thread with links|donations. We could clear out our clutter, absolve our guilt AND bless someone! I ordered some used interior decorating books and received 3 identical books except the titles|covers had changed over time. silly me! doh! I'm off to find an empty QVC box to recycle, for those goodies.

Janie, I dont have a number to ring but the charities "Women's Aid" and SPLITZ can be contacted and I bet they can tell you how to donate to women's shelters.
