whetmans pinks have been around for a long time. i think they should be good quality from this company. i cant grow them as i have a tiny garden and the borders are not that sunny. but if you have the space and full sun go for it. i dont like growing pinks in pots personally they dont seem to thrive

In my experience it's a bit of a lottery no matter who you're buying from when it comes to plants by post.

I've been mail-ordering plants since the 1980's and I've had bad ones even from reputable companies. I've also had good ones from less reputable sources.

Via QVC I've ordered from Hayloft, Thompson & Morgan, Claire Austin, de Jaeger and Raymond Evison and I've had great plants from all of them, but when I've gone onto the web site and read the reviews there are invariably a number of people who've been unlucky and received poor plants, whether through delays in transit, incorrect handling en route, being sent out before they were ready etc. Basically, there will always be uncertainty when you're dealing with live material.

My policy is that if I want the plant/s badly enough and can't source them locally, I'll take the chance. At least with QVC plants are guaranteed for a season, not just the normal 30 days - I've been fortunate enough never to need to invoke that guarantee by the way, but that's what they say.

I'm desperately tempted by these pinks - they look beautiful - but I'm telling myself I don't have any room, because it's true!

I'm hoping they sell out before I cave in, lol.

Can any one vouch for these and the range please.

I bought them when they were the TSV last year. They arrived in a little plastic greenhouse and looked ok. I followed the instructions and potted them up then when big enough put in their final possitions. All but 2 are dead. Really disapointed and QVC do not want to know now.

Are you on Facebook? If so I would post this on their page today and see what they say.

No I'm not on facebook or twitter. This is the reply I got 2 days ago.

Hi XXXXXX,

Thank you for contacting QVC.

I am sorry to read that the Whetman Pinks you purchased from QVC have died.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer you a replacement or refund on this as it is now outside of the guarantee that was offered on this product.

I am sorry for any disappointment caused.

If we can help with anything else please get back in touch with the team.

Best wishes

Bought Whetman pinks last year and they are doing very well just now. To be fair I just plonked them in a pot and left them - didn't flower last year but buds are forming just now so I expect them to flower. That said, I have found QVC plants are very hit and miss. Last year I did have a lot of refunds.

I have been buying the odd plant from ebay much cheaper than qvc and have not been disappointed yet

I bought a variety of bulbs from the pound shop and so far they are coming up nicely. Was introgirged with these as the colours looked gorgeous. I bought some huge lilies from Q and they were fabulous. Sadly having moved I couldn't bring them with me. I still haven't decided on today's tsvs though I could be too late!
