Inspired by a comment on the other thread regarding self scan tills, which I agree are an absolute pain most of the time, but great on the rare occasions when they work without a hitch. I thought I'd ask what modern invention, or way of doing things was better the old fashioned way? For me it's automated telephone lines - "Your call is important to us", "unfortunately, all our agents are dealing with other customers, please hold" AAGGH! I'd rather just listen to the ringtone and decide for myself how long I'm prepared to hang on for, and not to be charged for hanging on, listening to a message, choosing the appropriate number from umpteen different choices. I want to speak to a human to whom you can actually explain what you're ringing for and for them to put you through to the right person!
