WARNING re QVC plants

Hi,

I called QVC when they launched their last gardening tsv, the Lilly Trees as I thought they should warn their viewers about the pollen being poisonous to animals.
Apparently all Dale did was refer people to the FAQ on their website. :11:
What about the viewers without computers? Surely the warning could have been given out on air so everyone knew before ordering that their pets would be at risk if they come into contact with these plants?

Please be careful if you order plants, check if they are safe for pets and young children before you buy.

I know Lillies as poisonous for cats. Its the pollen thats in the centre. I love lillies and cats so I always cut the centre out of any lilies I have in the house. This also stops pollen going all over you table and clothing as it can stain.

By the way the most important question (to me anyway) was the penultimate one on the FAQ list!

"Are tree lilies poisonous to cats?
Yes, the pollen is poisonous to cats."

Maybe I'm wrong, but if you have pets I think the safety question is far more important than how big it grows or what pot I should use!

Am disgusted with QVC for not making Jackson give this info out on air!

Thanks for the warning Tolly and I have to agree that a warning should be announced on air. I haven't got any cats but I'm wary of them around Maisie (avatar) so I always do the same as Catkins and cut the centre out of them. Besides, the colour can leave a really horrible stain at times which can be a nuisance.

I don't have a garden or any pets but I really think that as well as stating this during the presentation, QVC should have a warning about this on screen when the relevant product comes on air - either as a static message, or one that runs along the bottom of the screen so customers are fully informed. They also need to put it online next to the relevant product/s if they haven't already.

Once again, this great site fills in the gaps where QVC are concerned! We do not have pets but out lovely neighbour does and I would have felt awful if we had caused the premature death of her much loved cats. It is a real shame QVC do not make this clearer.

It was on the description on the tsv via the red button that they were poisonous to cats but I do agree that they should also say so on air.

Glad this has been mentioned, ive got two 18 month old cats and have lillies in my garden. I like having them in the house too, good job that i nip the pollen off when i get them, id never forgive myself if something happened to these two!!

Me too, I have a lovely lily outside and when I've cat proofed my garden I'll be doing the same to those ones too before my little gang go out to play.

Richard doesn't have time to concern himself about peoples beloved cats, he is to busy trying to perfect his 'image' as an old fashioned cowboy out of the old John Wayne western movies! I keep expecting him to appear dressed in the cowboy hat, checkered shirt, whilst being brought onto the set, sat upon a horse, chewing tobacco!

I find issues like this totally deplorable. I think QVC should be obligated to issues a warning live on air, and not redirect potential customers to a website, that they may not be able to access.

I'm sure the ASA would have a field day with something like this.:54:
