The thing is, no one wants to be GP now. Out in the country areas, 4 have just handed their contracts back and closed the surgery. One doctor retires, and they just cannot get a replacement, so the other doctors cannot handle the amount of patents.

As for chemists, my local one went bankrupt, the owner had 4 and all closed. Local news saying the medicines have gone up in price and each chemist is allocated a certain amount of money, but even the cheap version on prescription are costing a lot more now. They cannot make money and even get the supplies for customers. One pharmacist said on air she had to start pushing selling cosmetics to keep the shop open.
Absolutely same here - we used to have four chemists in our small High Street, one's gone and another one likely to disappear anytime soon. And even in bigger nearby towns chemist shops have closed down, which was unheard of just a few years ago.

Men's pants seem to be based on fashion eras, not whether or not they are actually practical.

I remember loose floppy things that gave no support.

Then came Y-fronts, but these seem to have disappeared (I only look in general shops like Tesco Superstores and large Lidl, not specialist menswear shops).

Then tailored briefs became the fashion, which suited me, but now these have also gone out of fashion.

All I seem to see now are trunks.
My brother (in the States) is friends with chap, who gave up a career in finance to work at the old folks home, which is jolly decent of him. I hear of humungus turds in the lavatory which stretch all the way up the sides, almost touching the lid (no ****!)

Also of an elderly gents scrotum which was at knee level. It must get wet when he 'sits down'. Moral of the story...wear supportive pants/trunks with a high lycra content. I have binned Mr B's that were too loose to be fired like a a catapault. (sp?)

Here you go Strato. My son in law swears by these, I buy them for him every Christmas 😂. stepone.life
which pants are these?

I remember a few years back if you had a nurse appointment always taken on time. Not now. Only me and a woman waiting for the doctor she got called in, I was still sitting 15 minutes after my appointment due time. I think the nurse went off for her tea break. My surgery now you phone get a call back from the doctor, and they tell you to come down that day or the next. As I was waiting for my nurse appointment last Monday, people coming into reception asking for a doctor appointment and told the first one free one unless the doctor tells you to come in was over a week away.
Ours won't let you come into the surgery for an appointment it's got to be online or ring up on the day. Trouble with online only a couple of doctors seem to be on the list and the least time is usually about 3 weeks away. If you opt for a phone appointment you may make it for 9.30 say but,as I found out,it could be any time between your appointment or midday.

My hubby hasn't been able to get his drops for dry eye at all this year. He is using Hycosan until he goes to the eye clinic for his Glaucoma check.
Yet another thing that seems to be in a shambles in this country. Not good enough.

I never realised until recently that three weeks' wait for appointments seems to be becoming the 'norm', and I thank heavens our surgery is excellent. And then you get that bl%%dy patronising advert on the telly instructing you to 'see your GP if you are worried, don't leave it'. Yeah, right.

I have been feeling ill since yesterday. Vertigo, feeling I want to throw up, and running to the toilet. Breaking out in hot sweat then freezing cold. Never had vertigo before and thought I would be fine today. No, so again head down the toilet, but not actually throwing up but going to the toilet instead. Decided this afternoon to phone 111 for advice. Recorded message about Covid and if an emergency, phone 999. Then just hung up. Decided to phone doctor, got through, told all call backs full but will pass on to one of the doctors. Shocked actually got a call back about 30 minutes later. Doctor thought it was a bug and gave advice. I did say I was sorry, but never knew you got vertigo with a bug, seems you can. And it can take more than one day to go away.

Worried about trying to eat, but might try some breakfast cereal later? No water but okay drinking slowly Pepsi.

I had it for a while, I couldn't even get up off the floor.

And one day, my bed suddenly tilted up and threw me onto the floor!!!

I realised straight away that it only FELT like the bed was tilting, but by instinct I threw myself in the opposite direction to the tilt, thus landing on the floor.

Been contolled ever since with a drug called Betahistine every day. I did stop taking it once, and the vertogo started again.

It's dreadful Ive had it a couple of times but not lasting more than a few days and not severe.

Oh that is awful. Good that at least you have medication that controls it.

Vertigo is awful, I have a chronic condition and one of the symptoms it causes is vertigo, have had it for nearly 18 years.

Donna, some toast or tea biscuit is best thing to eat.

3 weeks would be lovely here. I tried to make an appointment and was told they had nothing for 2 weeks. That's OK, I said, that'll do. But they don't make appointments further than 2 weeks in advance. So all you can do is ring at 8am to get an appointment that day, unless you're lucky and manage to grab one of the available bookable spots in the next 2 weeks. That isn't a lot of use if you start working out of town at 8am. Stay at home and hope that you get one of the same day appointments that are rarer than hen's teeth, or go to work and hope that if you manage to get an appointment it is late in the day so you don't have to take the rest of the day off. Fine if you don't work. Guess they hope that you'll either be better or dead after 2 weeks so it won't be an issue any more.

There does seem to be something going round, or at least here in South-east there does. Lots of people suffering from nausea and 'flu-like symptoms. Make sure you drink plenty of liquids, don't risk dehydration. Here's wishing you better very soon. 🌻

It must be all over the place - as we are in North Lincs!

I used to think vertigo was just vague dizziness till a relative had it and was hospitalized for a week. It's an awful condition so my sympathies to Sazza, Donna, Strato and everyone suffering from it.
It is so bad you can't do anything except vomit, and that is difficult if you can't move from lying on the floor.
