I was watching the Tom Tom Blockbuster hour last night which was 12 March. With howard Griffitha, and Richard there specialist guest from Tom Tom.

I have to post this as it really got to me, and i must vent/

Both the shows, Howard asked the bloke about ten times, wel is this the best offer, poor Richard would say yes, then five minutes later he got asked the same question.

Then he got 100 pounds of money out, and kept picking up the extras, and putting the amount of money next to it. And kept saying to richard, richard is this right, i felt sorry for richard, he seems a genuine nice guy. And this happened several times,

And the constant, its 80% gone now, ooh no its not its 81%, ooh im sorry its 82%, ooh my gosh customers, we will be going to limited stock in a minute, oh richard this means limited stock, with the poor guy going yeah yeah, while richard was looking oddly at the camera, probably thinking, will that guy calm.

Then Howard, got richard to go through the other languages on the Tom Tom, and howard was saying a saying in the language, which was on the tom tom, while at the same time richard, was there thinking WTF.

Sorry about this rant, but i just had to as it grated on me.

Howard constantly uses the same old dodgy back street trader approach when presenting a product, especially when he produces a wad of notes to try an tempt people to buy.
I am amazed that IW have not had a word in the ear of the Howard "The Boyo" Griffiths as this kind of approach really does put people off.
His constant untrue stock updates and his cringe-worthy "I am being told that another television programme has gone onto a break and we are getting a massive spike, with masses of people turning over to watch this product and it is literally flying out of the window"........

Do not believe anything Howard Griffiths says,as he is a compulsive liar!

I am aware that IW presenters, including the ever-fragrant Mr Griffiths, read this here site.

I am also VERY aware that they take criticism of themselves extremely personally, while they are more than happy to have their company's products labelled as "tat", and the customer service department described as "non-existent", "practically criminal", and "about as much use as an umbrella during a nuclear explosion" without being in any way particularly bothered.

But maybe this is something that IW, as well as individual presenters, should see as an opportunity rather than just fly into a blind rage and contact poor Graham in a right huff demanding that threads get removed.

IF selling techniques are putting people off watching shows, how are IW ever going to get/increase sales? And what is the point of having product experts on the show if all the presenters are going to do is drag them into some ropey sales spiel?

Stop treating viewers as if they're stupid: you want us to part with our cash, then let us make properly informed decisions about whether to buy.

And sort out your customer service department while you're at it.

If there is one thing that I cannot stand it is people on shopping channels who tell bare faced lies in order to try to sell a product.
This happens all of the time especially on Ideal World and being a champion for Consumer Rights I will carry on in making the Great British public aware of dodgy sales pitch tactics used by Ideal World presenters.
I have already recieved an infraction from the Fascists moderators here but that aint gonna stop me from telling the truth about what goes on in the not so wonderful world of Ideal World.
"Publish and be damned"...........As the Duke of Wellington once said.

I will never stop comments about presenters on this site, I may not agree with all of the comments but I do agree 100% that everyone had the right to their opinion.

Howard is getting unwatchable, the constant stock updates, the cash flashing and not giving the guests enough time to talk. TomTom was bad, the Sleep Genie even worse, both excellent products with superb guests that would have been better to watch without the inclusion of Howard Griffiths.

That IS a tad unfair Horatio.

I've had my share of disagreements with Graham about posts that have been pulled, but at the end of the day we're not always made aware of pressures that certain people may try and bring to bear on Graham to get us to shut our traps.

And (within reason) Graham has defended our right to post actual critiques of products, customer service issues and presenters' selling techniques as long as they are more than just being insulting for insults' sake. Which sounds fair enough, to me.

There are certain IW presenters I just will not watch. Mr Griffiths could be giving away water from the Fountain of Youth along with ten tonnes of gold bullion and I'd still turn over after seeing him.

I do enjoy products that are perfect for your Nan, but they would also be perfect for your old aunt and also the neighbour who lives next to your uncle and he’s young niece.
Just get to the point and say EVERY ONE.
:drunk:

Hi im sorry if my post offended anyone including Howard, i did not realise he reads this site, and wouldnt intentionally upset him, as that is not right.

Im housebound, sometimes bedbound, dur to medical problems, including CP, and ive a thing for technology, it fascinates me. And i watch the technology shows on every shopping channel as i enjoy it, even though i intend not to buy, but it keeps you uptodate with the latest technology.

Just do not get why, customers are spoke to like they have no idea, with what they are buying, im ure people who were watching already had some idea of what a TomTom can do, as the brand is massive. And do not the obviously being told to them like 20 times a hour.

Hey i cant drive dont need a TomTom, but i no if i did, presentations, like that wouldnt make we want to buy one.

Presenters i find good for technology on ideal world, this again is my personal choice. Are Andy Love, who seems really knowledgeable on what hie is selling and Martyn Parker, who i believe worked in IT way back didnt he, ooh yes and Joanna

Janice i also like, i know she gets picked on about her jumpers lol, but she is realy good, and she must feel down at times, having to sell the same old Toshiba, 4GB Ram 500 or 640 GB Hard drive, see i no if all off by heart, and the good old refrubished HP Comp

Unfortunately a lot of people think that because the internet and forums like this are free and encourage free speech it gives them the right to spout rubbish then brand anyone who opposes their almighty view as 'fascist'. As for being a champion of Consumer Rights, all I have seen of your posts are snide remarks about the presenters appearances and no hard facts about this world of corruption that IW are supposed to be dabbling in.

I don't profess that everything is happy clappy but at least make criticism constructive and not just poisoned.

You post didn't offend me and I totally agree with you about Howard.

I agree with that, he's one of the better presenters on there. He always lets the guests have their say. He has lovely manners, which I love. He has a little joke when called for but he's never smutty like some.

And he's gorjuss

Yeah andy love was back on with TomTom earlier, however no mention of limited stock, what i did notice though, rather than flashing the money hes got a way, of going through what other shops are selling the product for, and then taking what they dont give away, and saying the price. Andy tells viewers about situations hes actually been in, which is much more better way of selling, and mentioned things like how to get petrol, and the IQ routes, stuff, Howard didnt let the guy mention,

Howard's Mulberry Silk show made me laugh or cringe or one of those, he was using a maneiguin which had emeila silm wear on, he was calling her barbara, and was moving her around the bed, and saying how the duvet, was cuddling her.

I heard Howard saying "the pressure is on as stock getting low" didn't think they were allowed to put pressure on people to buy ?

Just watched the Acer hour and was totally disgusted at the hard sell by Howard, will sell out this hour, getting tomtom ready for midnight, check out your baskets now, etc etc. The more relaxing way to shop, I think not when Howard Griffiths is presenting. Ah well the Acer or TomTom hour to
Look forward to at midnight!

I watched the Acer hour for 10 minutes before getting annoyed with the sales pitch, "we don't have large stocks of his item only 500 no 400 and the phone lines are already busy. He seems to use the same script no matter what he sells, I feel sorry for Janice having to sit there listening to him...I wonder what goes though her mind.

Listening to the AMAZING Mr Griffiths? Probably tumbleweed :smirk:

I agree with this. I know there is a limit on how much you can keep waffling on in those hour long Tom-Tom presentations but the cash flashing and ridiculous stock updates is as bad if not worse than what the Sit-up presenters dish out.

I instantly turn over when IW have Tom Tom or those mind-numbingly boring Karcher cleaning products. They need to bring a bit more variety in both the presentation style as well as the products.

I watched the acer midnight hour, he said when we left at 11 pm 55% of the stock we have has sold, then come midnight he said were nearly at 90%, like they would sell 45% of stock when the item was not being shown.

If the powers that be and howard do read all this on here, please can you just calm down, relax yourself, its doing you no good, just let the products sell naturally, the ACER was a good deal 519.99 with a bag and a memory stick, which is nearly double the quaility of what that Toshiba is or was at 399.99, that ACER PC would last years it will sell.

Howard did say monday night when selling the tomtom, that they have a predicted amount to sell, maybe with the thing coming out a through weeks ago about maybe the channel struggling cause of change of channel number. Maybe they have been warned the channel will carry on, but we will need less presenters, so they are trying uber hard. I dont no if that is the caae, and is only coming from me.

But howad takes it to the max.

Why doesn't he say something else instead like..........."this is selling fast but don't worry if you miss out because we will have it back in stock in two days.......or less probably" :smirk:
