:mysmilie_5: well i wont be buying you can get better pies for a £1 in the supermarket

:mysmilie_46:Think at nearly £3 or £3 not really for most families.I'll stick to making my own or perfectly fine ones from supermarket. Watching CB drooling over them puts me well off.:mysmilie_5::mysmilie_5:

£23.50 for 12 sausage rolls, gold plated I assume. £4.60 from GREGGS... Yes I know, GREGGS but... Home made and knowing what goes in them, £8. Now then should I order...... Erm no...

These pies are "crammed to the crust" for demonstration purpose only, you can tell because those two guests presenters can't get enough of them, stuffing their gobs every time they're on, anyone would think its the first time they've ever had a pie from their "Unreal Pie Company"

my one's did not look like that lucky if you got a 1" cube of meat and the pies were tiny with no flavour

A friend of mine speaks highly of the Lime Tree Pantry pies. https://www.limetreepantryfoods.com/

Otherwise, even if you don't care to make your own pastry, you can get pastry squares (no rolling out) and filo pastry sheets to make pies of various types. Saves a lot of the faff.
I tend to make all my own pies and sausage rolls, I make my own pastry all except filo and its far too time consuming but I bet my pies and such have more meat in them that the tosh the Porky Pie company sell on Q. I know what goes in them, may well taste much better and cost a third of what they sell them for. And guess what, I pay no arm and a leg postage. ( If all else fails then there is always Fray Bentos):mysmilie_46:

i like fray bentos, pukka pies, sainsburys do some nice ones and tescos. i had some lime tree panty pies when i went to a hampton court flower show and they were gorgous cant think why qvc use real pie company.

That's true, a third of the price leaving a nice big profit to share between QVC and the Porky Pies, the Porky Pie Company will even get all those six quid p&p per order too because they're shipped direct from them, so the "not so Real" Pie Company have landed on a winner eh.

Always have fray bentos in the cupboard, I stock up when they are a quid in Asda.

Lime Tree Pantry pies were really good. They used to have a stall in our farmers market but the market only lasted a couple of months. Were I live people only like tat shops, money shops and pawnbrokers, anything decent lasts about 3 months. Didn't they used to be on QVC a few years ago???

The suet pastry on top of a Fray Bentos pie is absolutely delicious! I always give husband the filling and a bit of the pastry (I'm soooo generous like that you see) and the rest for me, oh yeah! Yummy!!!

talisker do you have a Home and Bargain store near you, they often have Fray Bentos pies for about a pound, sometimes less.

I've tried to buy Real Pie Company pies and not received any of them. The courier clearly loves them :mysmilie_5: You get your money back but I actually would like to see if they are as good as they look on the TV.

Don't know why everything is posting twice. The site's gone a bit weird.

There are a few home bargain stores dotted around where I live so will check it out. Thanks

I live very near to the pie capital of the UK which is Wigan. I buy Pooles pies which are a Wigan based company but they sell in Asda, Tesco and other supermarkets around here. A pack of 4 frozen pies in either Meat and Potato, chunky steak, minced beef, or cheese and onion are around £2.95 and they are lovely pies.

Me too, there is nothing like cornedbeef for a quick meal cooked with onions and potatoes (corned beef hash) or a cornedbeef sarnie ( I add pickled jalapeno to give it a kick)

If anyone wants a recipe of cooking a proper pie with corned beef, there is one easy one here with pictorial instructions too

(just substitute the lard for something healthier)
