yep silicone bun case is the best way....just not as pretty to look at but us does mean your tart will reform into a set cake and you can swap between fragrances easily. I only melt mine for about 20 minutes at a time and only a fraction of a tart or they're over-powering.

is it safe to leave the silicon in there longer, as I was hoping to leave my electric burner switched on most of the day. Do you reckon the silicon would go funny or melt after being left on so long. I know they are made for oven temps but again this would only be short timings, not all day.

I haven't noticed any smell and most silicone baking products seem fairly indestructible (apart from stabbing or slicing with something sharp), maybe worth a try.

I wonder if the element (if that is what is in it) in the tart burner will burn itself out if you leave it switched on most of the day? But I think you will be overpowered with Yankee Candle fumes anyway and have to switch it off. Enjoy.

I ferreted around in the kitchen and found some little unused silicone muffin cases. You can buy them in £££ shops - I think I paid £1 for 6, I doubt if they will burn through and anyway the wax will just spill into the top of the tart burner top.

I'm so happy with mine and thanks to Akimbo for the tip of the silicone cases. My wax tarts will last for months now.

any ideas what to reuse the old wax for? Can I melt them down and add essential oil fragrance?

please could I ask a huge favour and ask if somebody could measure the well on the top of the TSV electric tart burner that they have received today, and just let me know the diameter across. I have found some silicone things to go inside but they measure 10cm across in diameter, will they fit inside it? or will they be too wide? Thank you!!!

Inside measurement is 7.5cm diameter. The silicone cases that I bought from the ££ shop are conical and measure 4.5 at the bottom and 6.5cm diameter at the top (so fit fine) and 3.5cm deep and I will only half fill them.

What is the bottom measurement of your silicone things?

When I bought mine a few years ago, QVC mentioned that they have a small bulb in it, so I suppose this will eventually fail. On mine, I can't see any way to open it up to replace this bulb.

Hexagonal nut on the bottom of the new one. I don't feel inclined to open it yet in case I destroy it. It also has a label on the bottom saying 'Do not wash'. Made in China of course. @Snarly are you still on your chinese goods boycott?

Thank you so much for the tip re silicone cases. Mine arrived today and I really like it, and the smell of the tarts. What a lovely selection. Mine has gone in the present drawer so I can forget about it until christmas.

I am a first time tart burner (!), having always used the jar candles. I have never seen a full demonstration of the tarts. Do I use a whole one or just break some off? I don 't like overpowering, the smell of the jar candles is on the cusp of being too much.

I have got a bit confused as I can't remember any recent TSV of an electric tart burner, but some days I miss checking up on QVC altogether (but not this forum!!!).

I've checked back through quite a few pages on this thread, but couldn't find any links etc.

Can someone tell me what you got in the TSV, and how much it was, and the P&P?

Thanks
Alan

PS I did a search on Q, but no electric ones came up

It's one from the Super Sunday so it hasn't happened yet. SW gave us a link (earlier in this thread) and we ordered it. The item code is 700622. When I just tried the code now in QVC it says the usual blurp about Contacting Customer Services so if you want it you will have to call them. The TSV price is £27.30 (can't remember the non TSV price but around £4 more) and it cost me including P&P £33.25 . I'm very pleased with it.

iloveshopping - re our earlier posts do you think these would be too big?? before I risk ordering them. TY!!!

I've just measured the bottom of the electric tart burner well and it is more like 6.5 cm as it tapers out to 7.5 cm (depth 2.5 cm) and the ones you sent me a link to were 8cm so I think they are a little too large.

You can always start by burning the wax tarts in the porcelain well and then buying the silicone containers when you have a spare moment. I started without using the silicone containers so will have to scrape all the wax out. In some ways I'm glad the melting well is an integral part as I'm such a butterfingers nowadays that I would have probably dropped it if I could take it out.

Thank you!! I will keep an eye out for smaller versions. Interesting to see how this is described on air as I know what you mean about scraping the wax out! Will look in my £ shop too ... will let you know if I find anything.) glad that you are thrilled with it other than this aspect, mine is ordered but hasn't been despatched yet but I will persevere, I'm not inclined to return it. Would the glass bowl from one of the usual YC burners work balanced on it or would it not reach the heat source? only I've got about three of these lol

Poundland and 99p Store def have the silicone cup cake ones, deeper than the Bettaware tart ones, but smaller around I think.

I have the electric Yankee Tart Warmer with the seperate dish but I dont like it because it takes so long to melt the tarts.....maybe thats why they changed the design???
