I was out this morning just wanted normal food. People about no queues here. Usually I am all about the sales and yes bought a 4 things but have little interest.
I don’t drink a lot but find the “glass of wine with a meal” has expanded from weekends and pasta meals to every night. Going to try dry January and then weekends only from February.Dry January beckons!!

I started doing it in 1997 & added February in 2004. I never cheat & the money I save goes into my Chelsea account for May. I then decided to give up bread & any dishes using a yeast dough as well the booze: unfortunately this caused me to develop an intolerance of bakers yeast & for the last eight years I haven't even been able to eat a breadstick!Dry January beckons!!
Hahaha, no! Not this year!Dry January beckons!!

No, well M&S had clothes on the ground floor as the good hall is open. Boots was open and had some gift sets 1/3 off.I don’t drink a lot but find the “glass of wine with a meal” has expanded from weekends and pasta meals to every night. Going to try dry January and then weekends only from February.
I’m also going to cut down on coffee as I drink it very strong which probably means for every mug of mine is the equivalent of 2 for others. When I went back to work in June I didn’t use anything at work so took a flask and mug the problem was I had it all drunk by 10am as I need it to be piping hot which once you start a flask doesn’t keep it hot enough for me.

My local M&S had menswear and children childrenswear, usually 2 floors up, down on the food floor too. Why not? The supermarkets have food, clothes, homeware and electrical, plus books, computer games and makeup all freely available if your local store is a superstore. No, well M&S had clothes on the ground floor as the good hall is open. It is so unfair that dedicated electrical shops, clothes shops, book shops etc are forced to close while supermarkets are allowed to sell all these things. My local M&S had menswear and children childrenswear, usually 2 floors up, down on the food floor too. Necessary shops that are allowed to be open should only sell necessary things...things that are essential to living not cream off the sales of un-necessary items, in my local Asda the clothing department was heaving, no social distancing being observed...no wonder so many retailers are collapsing and the pandemic is out of control again.
I was thinking my local Card factory shop is closed but across the road the food M&S could sell wrapping paper and cards ...its not fair on the smaller shops tbh
The trouble is, who gets to decide what is necessary. When they cordoned off aisles in shops in Wales, it meant you couldn’t buy stuff like kettles, children’s wear, replacement bedding, replacement towels. Now none of those may seem necessary to some or indeed most, but they would be bloody essential to me if my kettle just broke or the bedding was ruined. As well as the independent shops’ interests, I think they wanted to stop people swanning about in stores. Well I can see the point of that if it was to buy adult clothes or make up, but how long does it take to buy a kettle? And not everyone is on the internet so how could those people get what they considered essential replacements? It is so unfair that dedicated electrical shops, clothes shops, book shops etc are forced to close while supermarkets are allowed to sell all these things.

if I am going to be honest the governmnet dont have a clueThe trouble is, who gets to decide what is necessary. I think whatever the government do they can’t win. I do feel sorry for small shops who can’t open but equally if an elderly person’s kettle breaks and they can’t get a new one then I feel sorry for them too.The trouble is, who gets to decide what is necessary. To add to your honesty I don't think anybody has a clue. The longer this has gone on the more I'm convinced that the SAGE boffins just see it as a huge scientific & social experiment - they forget many of the things they said at the start & have now contradicted. WHO are useless, make global statements & then retract them. Add to that vested interests & a scare mongering media - sodding chaos.if I am going to be honest the governmnet dont have a clue
Alter if it was me I would feel a letter coming on!
I’ve just been told our council awarded the bin men £1000 each because they worked during Covid! THEN all the other council workers had to get it as well so hundreds of thousands on my rates bill next year. It’s not as if they did anything over and above - still wouldn’t empty bins not EXACTLY in the correct place, wore no masks or gloves so we had to sanitise them before we touched them and they take great delight in leaving the bin in the middle of the driveway entrance so you have to get out of the car to move it just to get in.
Everyone else working this year was told they are lucky to have a job!
Not a happy rate payer!
You raise our spirits with these, and even though we are seeing some lightening of the sky behind the curtains, it's getting harder to keep smiling, so this helps so much. Thank you, StratoI've not posted jokes recently because this particular thread is no longer topical, and I haven't found another relevant thread to use.
I have posted the occasional cartoon where relevant to a topic on various threads.
But I haven't run out! There are loads I could post, but I don't want to post them in the VIP area where only VIPs will be able to enjoy them.
So hope to post more when the opportunity arises.
