Someone said not to worry as we would all be on legal aid therefore it wouldn’t cost us to divorce caused by being cooped up all day together.!

It sounds awful, but divorce lawyers are another category who will do well out of this.

I just hope that they will ensure provision of alternative arrangements for people who are vulnerable in their own homes, and may be forced to isolate with someone abusive.

Further to your childhood comments LATI. There was only my Dad's wage coming in, so puddings/desserts whatever, were non-existent, my Mum's theory was, if us kids knew there was a pudding we wouldn't eat our dinner, but she would conjure up that new fangled dessert in a packet called Instant Whip which she would 'do' for Sunday tea with some sliced banana on top or a few chocolate drops. God did we think we were in heaven !!! We were the generation that never went out for a meal, partly because there were very few restaurants, and certainly none that catered for kids.

However, one day we suddenly went 'foreign' for one of Mum's meals, she bought a couple of boxes of the new 'Vesta' range (mid 60's), imagine having a freeze dried curry with mash potato ! Mums excuse was that it needed 'filling' out. Happy days, and how I wish my Mum was still here for Mothers Day.

I've heard many a lady in the checkout queues lately saying "the young'uns will have to start learning to cook now ", never a true word.

As older teenagers we loved Vesta chow mien and if I had to babysit my (now late) brother to get him to behave we bribed him with the promise of this.

Many decades later we had a trip down memory lane by cooking it but it was pretty dire and the experience was never tried again!

When shopping last week I noticed an awful lot of Pot Noodles in trollies even though there was absolutely no shortage of proper food. I tried them once when they first came out but never since.

BJ has just announced that letters are going out to people who are on lists (hospital I assume] as being in the vulnerable category advising that they will have very basic food parcels delivered to them. He said if it goes on for a long time they might be able to refine what is included in the parcels.

I suppose there will be groups shouting discrimination if it doesn’t adhere to their particular diet.

Unlikely to be fresh food so I suppose it will be dry and canned goods which should cover most.

Ah Vesta! Did we really eat those? The prawn curry, chow main was that the one where you had to fry the crispy noodles?I lived on those when I had my first furnished flat.Angel Delight was one of my Mums ‘go toos’ with tinned fruit. Not that Mum was not a good cook, freshly baked cakes every week, meat and potato pie.I wanted to break out and go exotic as a teenager, I cooked a Mushroom Risotto for my parents it was a grey pile of rice, I don’t think it was eaten!

When I was first married one of my “specials” was Angel Delight made with half cream half milk.

whipiped very thick, split a shop bought cream Swiss roll lengthways , resandwich 2 halves back together with whip and cover the whole thing with remainder like a Yule Log. Decorate and open freeze. Defrost very slightly before serving. It is very similar to a reverse Artic roll with the AD being a creamy ice cream. I took the trouble to mix and match the flavours of roll and AD!!!! Sophisticated or what!!!

Our Aldi this afte' was well stocked - especially given the situ', but there is a limit of 4 of the items pp. Of course as loo roll available, people buy 4 anyhow, cos it's there. Also lots of bread, fresh food, bleach. No hand san (obvs) didn't look for soap/don't need. But people won't keep away! How can we protect ourself from these fucktards? I kept away & when someone asked if I was 'in the q' (due to a large gap between me & the p.i.f, I replied that I was keeping 2 metres apart as per the government guidelines. She looked at me as if I was rude - an unpleasant obsessive, but did the same - ie kept back. It wasn't nice - unpleasant in fact. :(
I had a joke with an old Polish man 'just take 4' (joke obvs) cos he did it to me.
Everyone is really eyeballing everyone elses' trolley....

CC CAN I COME TO TEA ???? I actually love the chow mein, those crispy noodles really make it !

Silver Fox. I actually still make meat and potato pie ! a good filler that lasts a couple of meals. I remember my Dad when he came home from a shift down the mine, sitting down to a huge Yorkshire pudding first, then another plate of dinner with meat and potato pie. Sounds a lot but it was good wholesome food, - none of the factory gloop of processed food, because there was none about at that time.

I must try this when 'friends for dinner' is allowed. Will cover with 100 & thousands for full on 70's glamour. It will follow prawn cocktail gammon & chips with pineapple...

Sadly this 2/3/4 per person, in reality means 4/6/8 when a couple go shopping, and there's no way to police it, so we could all still be up sh...t street with the grab alls.

The one type of food not flying off the shelves was the plant based products. We are not that desperate ......yet!

I had a M & S plant food meal last night, mushroom stroganoff, that had been part of their meal deal. It was the only main meal left available in the offer, so thought I would try it. Yeah, gods. It was horrid. My husband sat there and said, 'what do you think?'. I said 'it's b****y horrible'. He said, 'thank God, I thought it was just me'. Anyway into the bin it went.

I am not that desperate yet either!
