We have just spent the morning clearing bits of wood hoarded in the garage for years. Mr L has finally realised that he is no longer be to do DIY jobs himself so all those used once saws, drills, tile cutters etc are away to the recycling place right now. Unfortunately that is only the tip of the iceberg.
However we are still able to get a mid size car in a small garage which is more than I can say for all our neighbours except one which is pristine as he keeps a hardly ever used Bentley in it.

He has about 7 cars, no longer lives in house just visits every few weeks and takes B out for a drive. He knows Mr L is interested in cars so always calls him over to see anything new.

I would love a Bentley.
I had a Bentley piano ;)

Also my neighbour had a Bentley and about 6 other upmarket cars.

They were all to make a good impression as he was a financial adviser, who turned out to be a confidence trickster and ended up in jail. He also had an upmarket name (false) of StJohn (pronounced sinjun).

It also turned out that his house was rented, so they couldn't take it as "proceeds of crime".

Sent to me by someone from Lancashire - - - - -

HE DIFFERENCE IF YOU MARRY A Lancashire lass

The first man married a woman from Essex. He told her that she was to do the dishes and house cleaning. It took a couple of days, but on the third day, he came home to see a clean house and dishes washed and put away.

The second man married a woman from Sussex. He gave his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and the cooking. The first day he didn't see any results, but the next day he saw it was better. By the third day, he saw his house was clean, the dishes were done and there was a huge dinner on the table.

The third man married a lass from Lancashire. He ordered her to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn't see anything, the second day he didn't see anything but by the third day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye, and his arm was healed enough that he could fix himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher.

BTW I'm watching the International Fireworks Contest live on my PC screen, and I can also see the flashes from my window, reflected on the low clouds, but not the actual fireworks.

3 displays tonight and 3 tomorrow, both preceded with 5 huge heart-shapes in the sky in honour of the 5 people killed here.

Each of the 6 displays lasts 15 minutes.

A previous partner had a very large house close to the display (where she kept her boat) and each year we had a large party of friends to watch it from her garden, She had to move elsewhere for family reasons connected with her daughter, so no more firework parties :(

How beautiful & how desperately sad. I can't watch or listen to the news at the moment, there's so much misery.

Here is a link for the fireworks on YouTube. There is also a link to the local paper showing it, but both gave lots of waffle between the displays and the YT link is the more interesting.

It is quite long, but if you just want to just watch the 3 displays you will have to whiz along to find them. The sound of the waffling is a bit erratic, jumping from very quiet to very loud at times.

There are another 3 displays tonight at 9-15pm so you could search for it on YT and watch it LIVE if you wish.
