Asda have one in store right now - not a branded one - for £20.00. Worth giving it a go and, if ur not impressed, Asda are very good on returns. Also, no exorbitant p+p - a winner 4 me every time!

Shark mop is just on now, thanks to Miceal he asked about laminate cleaning.
The guy said the steam is generated by the movement of the mop and is safe for laminate.
Still though I'm not convinced, hubby's just some finishing touches to the floor to do, but would hate to cause it to start lifting after me steam mopping it.
Need a trip to B&Q for some worktop trim, may ask them about steam cleaning the boards.

Thanks everyone for their comments on this thread, I've been considering getting a steam mop so this has been very useful :handshake: I've just gone onto QVCs website to try to watch demo's of the two H20 ones but they've only uploaded the little bit of film set to music that they play in the background when actually presenting the product live, you know the ones, they feature images of irritating time-rich people sweeping mops over already clean dream homes :dull:. The red one is on waitlist in any case and the green one is featuring this weekend on four Easy Pays so I suspect that may go too...

Well I went for the green H2O and I have to say I'm converted :clapping:. I don't believe that any machine can, just by looking, can take 25 years grime off an oven (blame the people who had the house before me) and it does still need a bit of welly, but nonetheless I'm impressed. I have poorly laid laminate in my kitchen (put in by the people who sold me the house, can you tell what I think of them? :giggle:) so I wouldn't mind if it ruined it as I want to replace it at some point, but it left so little moisture I can't believe there'll be a problem. Have to say it has been very satisfying blasting this house to kingdom come in a cloud of steam! Ahh, I like to think of myself as some stylish flapper out her generation, but I think the H2O has put me in touch with my inner Hilda Ogden :giggle:

I agree with stratobuddy that steam cleaners are not magic wands. BUT I just couldn't do without one now. I have had an upright but now I've got the Karcher cylinder cleaner. It takes longer to heat up than an upright and then you have to let it cool down afterwards, but it's a lot more versatile than an upright. I use it on hard floors of course (fantastic) but it's great for reviving carpets as well. It definitely makes cleaning the hob, oven and freezer easier and I love it on windows too. I wouldn't buy a steamer that needs special pads - I just cut up old microfibre dusters or tea towels and clip them on. Top Frugal tip!

love my polti 950 for floors and windows and for degreasing kitchen - it's not so good for cleaning burnt on yuk from oven shelves (they lie with that demo!) get some ovenmate for that instead, much better and minimum elbow grease required.
