Can I ask everyone to take 5 mins to read about the petition asking for full disclosure of ducuments pertaining to the conviction of Ricky Tomlinson and other picketing builders in the 70s. The government says the documents are being withheld under section 23 of the Freedom of Information Act, a section relating to national security. In another 10 years if the documents are made available the men involved will have (to use Ricky Tomlinson's words) "snuffed it"
I appreciate that Trade Unionism isn't a popular topic these days but this is about a possible Hillsborough style cover-up of a high level in the Police, the Government under pressure from big builders like McAlpine.
The petition is available here http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/35394 but if you want to read more before you decide whether or not to sign there's an outline here http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2013/jan/20/ricky-tomlinson-shrewsbury-24-secrecy and http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2013/jan/20/ricky-tomlinson-shrewsbury-24-secrecy
