Agree with you there. I don’t have a driving licence or a passport so it does cause a few problems. A while back tried to get set up electronically with my GP surgery so I could book appointments etc on line. Ended up taking my passport that expired in 1995, OAP bus pass and two utility bills before they’d authorise it. I hasten to add I’ve been a patient with them for over 50years!
Mind you if we could get digital ids, they’d probably need a copy of Driving licence or current passport to issue it!
Never had a passport.
Paper driving licence.
Even wanting to open a bank account at times requires photo ID.
Some will accept "certified" copies of paper license as proof.
