I've been looking at the TV guide on the iplayer and if anybody is interested BBC4 showed an evening of Fanny Craddock Christmas cooking shows last Saturday. 5 episodes covering your Christmas bird, Christmas pudding, Christmas cake, Royal Mincemeat and Petit Fours.

I remember her wearing floaty dresses while she was cooking, my mum never did that when she made us egg and chips🤣🤣.

I may watch them for a laugh!
I watched them all. She was terrible, her hygiene left a lot to be desired, dirty secateurs from her garden to cut open poultry. There was no finesse, she iced some choux buns, and there was more icing on the counter top. Standards were obviously a lot lower then, I remember watching it when first aired and couldn't see anything wrong.

Nice to see Alex still participating on here. Speaks a lot but doesn’t say much( in my opinion). He is between a rock and a hard place really. It’s not his job to question very dubious selling ‘tactics’ of his co-presenters and I am sure he doesn’t know whether texters are genuine or not. Just reads out what his screen says.

It’s a lot of the other people there who all seem to p**s in the same pot trying to earn a living off the backs of elderly, infirm or even mentally ill people. Who knows?

And Mike,as you are an avid reader(I believe) how about coming on here to defend yourself? You are Mr Macho man who is adored as much as you adore yourself. You come across as a lads lad (if you will). As it stands, and it shocked me,but Alex appears to have bigger balls than you and he has my full respect .
So come on,be a man and earn a little respect. We can agree to disagree but your selling tactics leave a lot,and I mean a lot,and I’ve got to be honest with you (ha bluddy ha) to be desired.

There endeth the first lesson.
Peace and goodwill to all men ( even Peter and Mike)

I bought my wife Jackie all her part-works series and binders. She loved 1970s cookery books in particular and had about 300 cook books from Mrs. Beeton to Mr. Slater…
