I guess they are practicing what they preach and not reading the forum. If they did they'd have noticed that I pointed this out a little while ago, and done something about it? 🤔🫢
That presentation was the first time I had seen that sewing machine on sale myself.
According to Torchy they only had 13 left and they were the last, so we probably won't see them again!😂😂😉
The number of typos they produce is enormous especially compared to QVC who barely make any.
IW have been selling a karaoke machine made by Daewoo for quite some time but when aired is always called 'Deawoo'.
I have just come to the conclusion that the children in the gallery don't give a ***k.

I'm far from being a youngster these days, stopped wearing a watch years back. I think the watch I last wore needed a new battery and I kept putting off getting it replaced. Just started using my phone for the time when out and about, or the clock in the car. And no need for one in the house. Plus I don't necessarily miss the feeling of wearing a watch, it used to slightly annoy me sometimes.
Have to agree with you comment about watches.
Clocks are everywhere these days, in your vehicle, on your phone / tablet / computer etc.
It surprises me how many are still manufactured!

I've been watching Fanny Cradock cooks for Christmas on BBC4. I'd forgotten how ham fisted and rubbish she was. She used a pair of garden secateurs to cut open her poultry, and they were dirty and rusty, even though she insisted they had been sterilised.
I never knew whether it was true or not, but Johnny was supposed to have ended one show with the words
‘I hope all your cakes turn out like Fannies.’

Eek!
🤣

What does clearance mean? Tw*t, no idea Paul please explain.

Quote - TV Clearance events: While prices in these events will in general be at or lower than any previously advertised price, there may be occasional items presented during the event which may not be included in the clearance program. In this case you will be advised before the auction commences that it is not a clearance item.

And do younger people even wear traditional watches these days? Even the ladies I was away with last weekend (same age as me) don't wear them. I do partly out of habit and to avoid getting my phone out of my bag just to tell the time.

I guess if they do wear one its a Fitbit.

Is the IW target younger people though?

I don't wear a watch every day, usually only when eating out or similar. Not sure how many I have tbh, I would guess 10 or 12, none of which I paid more than £50 or so for. I don't own any jewellery apart from silver chains with St Christophers on.

The rest of the time I wear a Mi Band 2 tracker on one wrist, it has great battery life and stores data for weeks at a time and on the other a Huawei Watch Fit 2, has a bigger brighter more customizable screen, but battery life under a week and data stored about the same length of time. I don't like using phone with bluetooth turned on all the time in case anyone wonders.

I’m of an age when you had one watch. This was in the age when watches were wind up. I got a solid gold watch with a leather strap for passing my 11+ exam. Mum and Dad had saved up all year for it. Only needed the strap replacing occasionally. I still have and it still works. The only thing wrong with it is the dial has become discoloured. It’s 62 years old!

unfortunately I can no longer wear a watch after my wrist got blistered and burnt by my, now binned, Fitbit.

First part is great and such a nice part of your life.

I assume you mean you ended up with weird blisters around the wrist from the strap. I got that from my Huawei, a common problem it seems and can be solved by wearing it more loosely. Something to do with the strap and moisture/sweat on the skin.

As regards their target audience, someone mentioned that older people may buy them for grandchildren after hearing all the guff about investment pieces.

There will always be a market for traditional watches, it's just the level of competition & economic factors that's changes.

I personally think there are two different market fights under way at the moment, not counting economic factors as they will always have an up and down effect depending on how economies are doing and how much disposable cash folks have.

1.Which is probably the one which effects/interests watch collectors like me more, that's the growth of Chinese & micro brands affecting the existing brands & market, of course this effects all levels of the watch market but probably has the most effect on on the lower to mid range market and to a lesser extend the luxury market, we will end up with too many brands fight for a share and some brands won't survive.

2.Growth of smart watches, which IMO effects mostly your everyday affordable watch/fashion watch market/lower mid range markets rather than entry level & higher end luxury watch market.

Although for me personally it will always be a mechanical/automatic watch, when the zombie apocalypse hits, your smart & quartz watches will become extinct and the good old mechanical will keep chugging along. ;):ROFLMAO:

I actually have a smartwatch i got as a present, although it has heaps of functions it's basically only used for my walks as a pedometer, rest of the time i wear my traditional watches.
