Alex is on with the mattress protectors. The Dubai air fresheners are back and given free with a purchase. It does suggest they're not selling well despite the hype🤔🙄...

Sorry I can't believe that.

Peter S said a few weeks back these sell for £40-£50 a time in whatever far flung country it was that he mentioned. I for one believe everything he says. So if they're being given free I can only assume it's a technical glitch with their IT system and will be rectified soon.

For those interested in tech stuff, I have an exclusive image of IWs IT system ...

When I left school in 1991 they were the rage, I think School had the Floppy Drive version

Pretty much the entire texts input seems completely fake. Either us conning them or them conning the rest of us. Do the ASA have the power to demand a texts log with numbers? Or in their case - number?

I don't doubt most of the texts IW read are from real people…

…real people sat in the gallery, that is.

"Oi Charley, once you've finished yer Dairylea Dunkers, send in a text. Make it from Muriel. Say she's multi-buying the plastic saucepans for xmas gifting cos she bought one before in a big store and paid …just make up a big number. Like really big, like whatever comes after 10."

They probably have names on a board to use during their shift, e.g., "Hammy", "Muriel", "Trevor". They ought to put some locations and preferred products down too cos Muriel is in for everything - even when she already owns 16 different versions - and Hammy moves around the country with more regularity than an Eddie Stobart truck!

The ASA exist to …Er… not sure, really. I doubt they'd ever ask to see 'proof' of any text sent in to Ideal World if someone complained, convenient though it is that every text IW reads out sings the praises of the product/the deal/encourages others to multi-buy, etc.

But if the ASA did suddenly decide to do more than ignore complaints, IW's owners would probably argue GDPR means they can't keep a log of texts and phone numbers (as the latter is PII data, and texting in isn't explicit consent to the storage of PII data).
