Firstly never seen that ever happen in a bar, and secondly you can get the watch from America, for approx at most £130 ish inc duty and a free little watch carry bag thing as well.

We discussed this before on here after Mike M telling his story of getting stopped when on holiday etc.

Sorry if this offends anyone, however the sort of people that would do that aren't the sort of people I'd like to socialise with. And I know for a fact if I'd done that with my mates over the years, they'd have called me a twat to my face ... and I wouldn't blame them!

What's he on about not being able to get COSC ??? A couple of my Christopher Ward's are cosc Muppet the certificate is just like an mot, only good on the day of testing. Useful for resale though

Kev really showing his Watch knowledge tonight, Shaun called him an expert at teh start, maybe needs to rethink it after this garbage. - "ETA7750 movement, COSC certificated, that means, the movement that was put in the watch has gone to thee certification place, movement calibration. Tested over 10 days, tested in 7 different angles in the watch winders, twitched and twitched till it's keeping near perfect time keeping as you can possible get. Each watch will have a little sticker on the glass of the watch, the number on that sticker, please keep that sticker, will be the number on this certificate, when you get this certificate , it's in four different languages, but it will show you all the positions that the watch was tested on and tweaked. blah blah."

Biggest load of crap ever, he obviously hasn't a clue.

They're tested for 15 days NOT 10 days.
They're tested in 5 positions NOT 7 different angles.
They're kept individually in sealed trays NOT in watch winders.
The trays are kept locked away in a store for each 24 hour period and only taken out very briefly to take readings/measurements, then returned to the store for the next 24 hour period, there is absolutely NO twitching or tweaking of the watches during this process.

COSC only does testing of the watches they do not do calibrating/regulating of the movement, if the watch fails it will be returned to the watchmaker.

I see the back of the Mathey-Tissot flyback chrono with the P350 movement and leather strap is H1821CHATNO, which is strange as that's the model number for the watch with a bracelet when it had the ETA7750 in it, i've got one from Jomashop, that watch with a leather strap should have H1281CHATLNO on the back.
Obviously with that error, must not be a working model just a TV sample.

Shaun has absolutely no respect for watches, he treats them all alike. The way he handles the watches is a disgrace, sometimes 3 or even 4 rubbing against each other.
Although he isn't the only one, they all are very unprofessional when handling the watches, they're often dirty, covered in prints and Peter's spit.

Great post. I'll slightly disagree with your last paragraph re collectors. I think they, almost regardless of the item, broadly fall into two categories. Those that collect purely for financial reasons (e.g. buy an item and lock it away hoping it'll appreciate in value) vs those that buy for a true appreciation and love of the item with financial gain secondary or not even a consideration.

And yes, if IW just sold the watches with a more level-headed approach it would be fine. However it's the OTT sales approach whether the watch is £39.99 or £3,999.99 that gets me, referring to them all as though they're tier 1 quality etc etc.

All jokes aside, when you hear the likes of Peter S trot out 'it's a thousand pound watch all day long this!!!' when they're selling it for £199.99, it's nothing short of embarrassing to watch, pardon the pun! They genuinely are like market stall sellers, Del Boy with the suitcase.

And those that want a Rolex on their wrist to show off, like a status symbol.

Why?

Just because folk like you Sally walk about in bare feet, or have bare feet while wearing shoes and ended up with hard skin or wear inappropriate (back/foot wise) footwear, doesn't mean all us follow your feet/back damaging behaviour, some of us know how to look after ourselves and don't need some hypocritical salesperson ranting at us on the TV as to what we MUST buy when we don't need it.
I might be getting on Sally but my feet (and skin in general) are still as soft and smooth as they were when i was a kid, don't have hard skin, bunions or any other foot problems, and i've never ever used moisturisers, sun creams or any those other stupid miracle/wonder products that are supposed to work wonders on the skin, so there.

It's a good job they have a couple left as I need one, will be diving to 20,000 feet again this weekend at my local park.

I know they've always been bad for the hard sell, but I think they're maybe getting worse. Especially with the introduction of the 'Marketplace.' I heard Paul B last night say something like 'at just £4 on 10 open pays, fill your boots.' Yeah but as we all know, multiple little purchases here and there soon add up. And at the rate IW want people to buy, you'd have a monthly bill running into the hundreds if not thousands!

I, and I'm not joking, think selly telly should legally have to show an equivalent of the 'gamble aware' and 'when the fun stops, stop' messages that gambling channels and websites need to show. To me, gambling sites encourage those with a gambling problem (hence them legally needing to show those messages) and it can be argued selly telly encourage those with buying stuff problems to buy. No safeguards in place whatsoever.

I see they have Downland copper infused mattress toppers, protectors, pillows etc today. No doubt Sally and Peter will be saying they're the bees knees, everyone should have one.

Oh but wait, the filling is hollow fibre. I do hope IW aren't going to do a flip flop and go all contradictory on us and recommend these products, because in the past IW "experts" like Shona, Knowles et al have described hollow fibre as a cheap, poor, and a crap filling for pillows etc, an not worthy of consideration.
