Don't despair Prof, the vast majority would agree with you and admire the independent way you've lived you life as many of us have striven to.

I had a lengthy debate earlier with Phaed and we sort of called it quits but he's popped up again with his stats which prove nothing. Fact is a lot of innocent pensioners will suffer as a result of this dastardly policy from a Labour - a LABOUR - (as Neil Kinnock once repeated) government.

I would prefer that wealthy types got an extra bung to spend on fine wine than to cut the winter fuel allowance of many many poorer pensioners. But they could easily have means tested it if they wanted to. They are a rotten lot.

Talking of which is Pete the Cheat coming back to IW? I know we all marvel at his ineptitude but maybe it's time they dumped the old fraud for good.

He picked me up once on my grammar, as I don’t string my sentences together properly, As I’ve said a few times on here I had a stroke when I was 14, which has left me with learning difficulties, sometimes I forget.

I got sent a Private Message saying even though you have learning issues, If you want to get anywhere in life, you need to at least try. You don’t come onto a forum to be told off.

Thats why I don’t tend to post on my worst days, when my Brain Isn’t in Gear as I call it, even though coming in here makes me happy.

For a kid who went to a lousy school in north London and left with a few CSEs and an ‘O’ Level in Sociology, I can get by reasonably well words wise. That’s not a reason to have a superiority complex for anybody. It is just how it is. Picking up people’s grammatical errors is pretty poor form. If you can understand what a person is saying - who cares, essentially. Saintslad did similar with Latearrival and upset her. I don’t think Latearrival posts here any longer.

I never doubted that you were a true aristocrat Duke, your posts radiating a certain stamp of authority.

My first school wasn't great but in those days we were taught the basics very well. Learning times tables by heart, long division et al which stood us in good stead in later life.

My old mum was the best speller I ever knew and she left school at 14. God knows what they teach thesedays but it doesn't seem to translate into clear speech or good grammar.
