Counting the days now. Beauty Masks with Shaun Crawley looks a definite watch…
I remember watching QVCs opening night in the early 1990s.Skimmed through now. Didn't think much of that first episode. Could have done without the food scientist bloke, didn't tell us anything new.
Rusty Lee is good fun, but making spam fritters or crispy pancakes or whatever was a bit pointless. And a bit beneath her tbh. Apparently, crisps are crispier than other crispy things. No sh!t Sherlock...
As said in earlier post, spam is seeing a revival from COVID, home dwellers harking back to their cosy food from their youth. And trendy beardie hipster types, aka lumbertw@ts, (or lumbersexual), who think the irony of a spam sandwich is cool, trendy and history chic, to eat with their pricey bowl of café cornflakes down Shoreditch way...
What it should have concentrated on more was the growing supermarket wars in the 70s, Sainsbury vs. Tesco, etc. and the upstarts coming on the scene by then.
Out of interest, does anyone know the date of the first UK shopping channel broadcast. What decade was that? It's on the wiki but... (need a sloth emoji!)
Thanks. Was that the first ever UK shopping channel then? Presumably launched on Sky?QVC First aired 1 October 1993
Off the C&C website, programme guide, first slots scheduled 9-10pm and 11pm-12am RDM drones between CE/C&C:According to Sky EPG no schedules yet
I wouldn't put it past 'em to stick PS on the VE watch shows on SE once Ryan gets tired or busy or as a stand-in...I’d give up on Create and Craft even, If PS turned up on Shop Extra
Wouldnt TJC be more fitting for Peter Simon
I suspect this was the first UK one.Thanks. Was that the first ever UK shopping channel then? Presumably launched on Sky?
So October will be their 30th anniversary...
Maybe they'll actually offer free or reasonable p&p that day?!
Actually saw a tech QVC slot, LH selling HiSense TVs. And free p&p. Reasonable discount on the RRP but still cheaper elsewhere!
Any chance them sitting Shaun on a drone and sending him into the skiesOff the C&C website, programme guide, first slots scheduled 9-10pm and 11pm-12am RDM drones between CE/C&C:

Surely they're going to start alienating the C&C viewers with more non-craft products starting to appear on the main C&C channel from 10pm onwards.Any chance them sitting Shaun on a drone and sending him into the skies
All what will happen at 10pm is the craft repeats will go to Shop Extra, while Create and Craft, will have Shop Extra products, Create and Craft presenters have mentioned regularly lately, that from 10pm, the main channel will be shop extra.Surely they're going to start alienating the C&C viewers with more non-craft products starting to appear on the main C&C channel from 10pm onwards.
Cross-contamination of former IW products and presenters could infect C&C and ruin it.
Seems like a risky strategy to me. A separate Shop Extra channel makes more sense.
Geez, it's a full-time job keeping up with this thread!
Shhh, it's a secret...
One extra factet is that Freeview broadcasters can suspend broadcasts for up to 3 months on a valuable Freeview channel prior to losing the slot.
Probably why the blue banner still says 'temporarily suspended' to abide by the Freeview rules.
TJC paid £7mill to IW for channel 22.

Shopping channel Create & Craft launches a new service to fill the void left by the closure of Ideal World last month.rxtvinfo.com
After 10pm Shop Extra on CE reverts to CE branding & products, yes. As far as I can tell, there is no new separate Shop Extra broadcast channel. All what will happen at 10pm is the craft repeats will go to Shop Extra, while Create and Craft, will have Shop Extra products, Create and Craft presenters have mentioned regularly lately, that from 10pm, the main channel will be shop extra.
Create and Craft finish there live hours at 10pm anyway
Surely Shop Extra has to be just a temporary name, it comes over to me as being clunky
Never knew Rob Brydon was on shopping TV. They knew nothing about the products, even trying to turn the spanner the wrong way. The whole presentation of the 2 items was a blooper from start to finish,I suspect this was the first UK one.
At one point, I thought it really was a spoof comedy sketch. And the other guy, sadly died at a young age. Andy from EastEnders- Ross somebody or other. This apparently dates back to 1989. Shot in some Sky studios. If you didn't know any better, you would think this was a comedy sketch. The director told them in no uncertain terms NOT to take the mower apart, but they ignored them, and the ensuing disaster proves they should have listened. Still, there were probably no viewers anyway.
