Counting the days now. Beauty Masks with Shaun Crawley looks a definite watch…

Skimmed through now. Didn't think much of that first episode. Could have done without the food scientist bloke, didn't tell us anything new.
Rusty Lee is good fun, but making spam fritters or crispy pancakes or whatever was a bit pointless. And a bit beneath her tbh. Apparently, crisps are crispier than other crispy things. No sh!t Sherlock...😲

As said in earlier post, spam is seeing a revival from COVID, home dwellers harking back to their cosy food from their youth. And trendy beardie hipster types, aka lumbertw@ts, (or lumbersexual), who think the irony of a spam sandwich is cool, trendy and history chic, to eat with their pricey bowl of café cornflakes down Shoreditch way... 🥴

What it should have concentrated on more was the growing supermarket wars in the 70s, Sainsbury vs. Tesco, etc. and the upstarts coming on the scene by then.

Out of interest, does anyone know the date of the first UK shopping channel broadcast. What decade was that? It's on the wiki but... 🐢🐵 (need a sloth emoji!)
I remember watching QVCs opening night in the early 1990s.
it seemed impossibly modern, then.
And how can the early 1990’s be 30 years ago? I’ve still got sweatshirts from then!

QVC First aired 1 October 1993
Thanks. Was that the first ever UK shopping channel then? Presumably launched on Sky?
So October will be their 30th anniversary... 🎂🎁🎉
Maybe they'll actually offer free or reasonable p&p that day?! 😜

Actually saw a tech QVC slot, LH selling HiSense TVs. And free p&p. Reasonable discount on the RRP but still cheaper elsewhere!

According to Sky EPG no schedules yet

I’d give up on Create and Craft even, If PS turned up on Shop Extra

Wouldnt TJC be more fitting for Peter Simon
I wouldn't put it past 'em to stick PS on the VE watch shows on SE once Ryan gets tired or busy or as a stand-in...

As per Duke's observation of a decent play on a tired ex-presenter in a flat leafing through old memories .. I can imagine a TV play/film series in the style of 'Pat and Margaret' (Julie Walters, Victoria Wood) of the hackneyed TV shopping presenter, one friendly image to the public, privately sour, dismissive of 'the plebs who buy our cr@p', scathing, backstabbing, politicking off-screen.
Imagine someone like the late Paul O'Grady playing them, or Horrocks as a sassy female TV shopping host! Or like the Noel Gordon portrayal in the behind the scenes Crossroads drama.

I suspect this was the first UK one.

Any chance them sitting Shaun on a drone and sending him into the skies

Surely they're going to start alienating the C&C viewers with more non-craft products starting to appear on the main C&C channel from 10pm onwards.

Cross-contamination of former IW products and presenters could infect C&C and ruin it.

Seems like a risky strategy to me. A separate Shop Extra channel makes more sense.

All what will happen at 10pm is the craft repeats will go to Shop Extra, while Create and Craft, will have Shop Extra products, Create and Craft presenters have mentioned regularly lately, that from 10pm, the main channel will be shop extra.

Create and Craft finish there live hours at 10pm anyway

Surely Shop Extra has to be just a temporary name, it comes over to me as being clunky

Geez, it's a full-time job keeping up with this thread! 😆

Shhh, it's a secret...
One extra factet is that Freeview broadcasters can suspend broadcasts for up to 3 months on a valuable Freeview channel prior to losing the slot.

Probably why the blue banner still says 'temporarily suspended' to abide by the Freeview rules.

TJC paid £7mill to IW for channel 22.

At last. Noticed last night:

The 'temporarily suspended' blue banner message on Ideal World Freeview 51 has changed to just the IW logo and 'Ideal World' text.

Think that's the last nail in the coffin for any hope of IW returning to Freeview under its own steam. Just another asset to be sold in due course.

After 10pm Shop Extra on CE reverts to CE branding & products, yes. As far as I can tell, there is no new separate Shop Extra broadcast channel.

It's just going to be the reallocation of Craft Extra and Create & Craft channels to the Shop Extra 'brand' for 4 hours and 2 hours respectively, before each channel reverts to normal programming. In C&C case it finishes at midnight anyway

A 'virtual channel' if you will.

The Freeview 85 red button stream is just the Craft Extra channel now.

Ditto all the satellite channels referred-to in the SE announcements are just CE and C&C.
From C&C website now re CE (sic):
You can also watch additional craft shows over on Craft Extra on channels Sky 680 and Freeview 85 - with the red button from our main channel!

C&C doesn't broadcast after midnight, so last 2 house of C&C each night will now be Shop Extra, 10pm to 12. Seems risky to me if lots of craft people audience watch at that time?
Risk of SE creep into more C&C programming too.

And the other guy, sadly died at a young age. Andy from EastEnders- Ross somebody or other. This apparently dates back to 1989. Shot in some Sky studios. If you didn't know any better, you would think this was a comedy sketch. The director told them in no uncertain terms NOT to take the mower apart, but they ignored them, and the ensuing disaster proves they should have listened. Still, there were probably no viewers anyway.

At one point, I thought it really was a spoof comedy sketch.
