Plastic Peony flowers as a gift.

I have the Bethlehem Lights Lily of the Valley on my landing window, and lit-up they look gorgeous, and have received lots of compliments.

I love flowers, fresh and fake. I have tried the Peony flowers but I wasn't impressed, I have had good ones from John Lewis and another place that I can't for the life of me remember the name of. I would have thought that they are a brilliant solution for those with hayfever - nobody wants to go red and puffy on their wedding day!

you can never get it right for everyone
I also had artificial flowers at my wedding

Yes I chose artificial ones so I could put my bouquet on my Grandad's grave as he brought me up like a father so wanted to involve him in a little way 💗

Belated congratulations from me also, and a lovely thought :star: :song: :song:

IMO fresh flowers and artificial flowers serve two different purposes - artificial ones, lovely as they can be, are purely a decorative home accessory to me, which I've got either in spare bedrooms or in hard to reach places where it would be too much hassle to water pot plants or replace water for fresh flowers. Whereas fresh flowers have the "feel good factor" for me, an occasional indulgence that I only display in an area of the house where I can see and enjoy them everyday.

If someone gifted you some plastic flowers for Christmas, even though the giver knew you adored fresh flowers, would you be disappointed?

Also, I feel it wont be too long when some clever boffin at Peony will think it a good idea to produce bridal bouquets..:giggle: Would you feel embarrassed having fake flowers on your wedding day? Even though the one advantage would be they will be with you forever - thats if you decided not to throw it over your shoulder at reception, of course.

I would feel disappointed with both, and very embarrassed at the latter

Somehow to me, fake, plastic/fabric flowers always remind me of the bunches one sometimes finds on gravestones or memorial plaques, in the cemetery, or at the reception of nursing homes.

Some of them do look good and even quite real, I think they've come a long way from how fake flowers used to be but I just can't get past the thought of how much dust they must collect!!

(OK, I'm prepared for someone to tell me I should dust more!!).

Thank you for pointing that out. If you need any advice on how to perform life saving surgery, give me a shout!

I remember you saying before about being a surgeon, fascinating. I've come into contact with a number of surgeons the past three or four years and I find the idea of them watching shopping channels and wiling away their spare time on this forum an absolute hoot! :wonder:

I know some like music playing in theatre, but hopefully not many are watching Q while they snip and sew!
