Can anyone recommend what they think is the best cosmetics brand on QVC? I have been tempted by Bobby Brown, Laura Gellar, Mally and Bare Escentuals. Must say I'm not impressed by the demos fromm Jemma Kidd or Daniel Sandler and not sure about New C.I.D. Also, which brand do you think has the best brushes?

I think you will get a very mixed response to this question as we all have our own favs.

Like others I also do not use just one brand. Smashbox would be the favourite for most things. Although I think the Bobbi Brown eyeliners are the best. But I use high st mascara (lloreal) and lippy (revlon) as I have not found a qvc one which is as good.

I personally do not like Laura Geller or Benefit make up as it made my face look 'dirty'. Bare Escentuals is ok but doesnt have the staying power or coverage of Smashbox in my opinion.

Mally's stuff does look fab. especially all of her eyeshadow products.

Am definatley going to get some gel eyeliner I think...was put off at first because of the mess I make with liquid ones but gonna give it a go.

I love Smashbox brushes - the no 29 that comes with the full size Halo is brill.

With make-up it really is one mans meat etc as not only do we all have different skin tones, we all like a different look. For me I know I have my look right when people comment on how good I look but don't 'see' the make-up iykwim.

At the mo I'm loving Smashbox Healthy FX foundation with Halo on top. I'm using a Valerie Beverly Hills blusher that I adore http://www.victoriahealth.com/product/Movie-Star-Rose-Blush/6797/0/ and dependant upon my mood I top that with a Bobbi Brown Shimmerbrick - I have 5 to chose from, or is that 6?. I use Mally concealer and am enjoying her mascara too, and oh yes her Brow Boost. As to the rest, well I flit between LG, BE and I've a rather nice Philosophy lip gloss.

Thinking about it I do have an obscene amount of stuff - shame on me:(

I am very much a natural look when it comes to make up and for that I love Bobbi Brown and Laura Geller. I prefer the BB eyeliner to smashbox. I think it really is down to personal preference some will swear one brand is the best thing since sliced bread whilst others will really dislike the same item. I know loads on here rave about the smashbox gel eyliners but I really couldnt get on with them and they ended up in the bin but the Bobbi Brown ones I have no trouble with at all

Over the years I've tried just about every brand on QVC, some of which I liked but they disappeared into Le Q oblivion such as Mojave Magic (anyone remember?). Personally I use a lot of make-up products but prefer the natural look, so I used to love Michael Maron. Laura G's stuff is too full on for me, as I hate the cakey look. I now use mainly Chanel which is quite expensive but from Boots you do get points of course. Jemma Kid does a lovely lip tint which gives the lips a natural colour, ready for some lip gloss.

I've tried most of them and have more or less decided on my favourites now. I don't wear much makeup preferring the natural look. Having said that, I couldn't be without Laura Geller Ethereal Rose, Smashbox Halo and Smashbox brushes which are all brilliant. I like Smashbox pencil liners as they are soft and don't drag.
I'm quite keen on Philosophy The Present too.
I've finally hit on the holy grail of concealers with Maybelline super stay concealer which works brilliantly.
Skincare is Gatineau all the way with a soupcon of Clinique thrown in for good measure.

Until found this forum, I used to think i was the only one who loved this. But have seen it mentioned a few times on here. And at the risk of repeating myself, I loved their "everywhere" colour - best "blusher " I've ever used. And still use the blusher/brow/shadow brushes every day and don't think they've ever dropped a hair.

hi Jacqueline..welcome from me too. I would say save your money..trot along to Superdrug and try their Gosh range, also our branch is now doing Accessorise make-up..eyeshadows and blusher are brilliant...

I agree with Rosey – it’s horses for courses.

I wear a ton of make up! I like to look polished, and as if I made an effort - but not like an overcooked glittery rainbow! I mostly choose my make up on the basis of tone and texture and light reflection rather than full on colour. I won’t tolerate poor quality, poor performance, or lack of longevity so I am a ruthless returner of make up to QVC if it doesn’t do what they said on air that it would do.

I really respect brands like Bare Escentuals who have great brushes and when you buy a kit it usually includes the brushes you need. I have a good range of my own brushes, but brands who expect me to buy a specific specialised brush separately tend to lose my business.

The last six months or so a group of friends and I have been holding monthly swap meets where we send round emails beforehand saying what we’ve got up for swap and then on the night we get shot of things that didn’t work for us and get to try some new ones. (toiletries, haircare and skincare as well as make up and brushes.)

So at the moment my collection is honed to perfection and I don’t have anything in it that I don’t use, need and love.

I’m primarily a Bobbi Brown girl with significant contributions from Jemma Kidd, Sue Devitt, and Mally Beauty.

I have a few choice items from Smashbox, MyFace and Bare Escentuals, and one or two from brands like Dior, Pixi, Urban Decay, Clinique, Bourjois, Benefit, Estee Lauder, Lily Lolo, Everyday Minerals, Pop Beauty, L’Oreal HiP, Too Faced, Prescriptives, Cosmetics a la Carte, Make Believe, Amazing Cosmetics, Gale Hayman and YBF! I still have two Models Prefer items in semi regular use!

These are the items which have surivived the six month cull.

I took pictures of my make up stash for another board recently, and I can post them if anybody else is like me in enjoying a nosey at other people's stuff! :giggle:

High end Bobbi Brown does lovely stuff.
Smashbox for the cream eyeliners(I prefer these to the BB as you can smudge them), brushes, and eyecolours.

Mally, sorry too much like a drag queen all false eyelashes and caked on. Also colour not for pale skin. I think of her as the new Stacey, all talk and cheap products. I belive most USA brands do not really make pale enough for Irish/English/Scotish skins. Some do but not Mally or BE.

BE too much faffing about with the buffing. Bored now.

BellePierre in House of Fraser now and looks awful.

NEW Cid looks very like Laura Geller stuff on the counters.

Laura Geller strangely I have never had the urge to buy her range.

Benefit do some nice items.

The thing is no one brand will cover all your needs, so its a bit of this and a bit of that.

I used to love Prescriptives but QVC never did half the stuff they did. Their foundations you really needed to go to a counter and get colour matched. Sad to see the brand discontinued by Estee Lauder who owned it.

On QVC US they do YSL, Nars, Laura Mercier and Lipstick Queen. Now all these are really great brands.

Go to a MAC counter for lipsticks and eyeshadows, hundreds of shades of each.

Usually a Clinique girl as I have very reactive skin but I have tried bits & bobs of QVC stuff. Like a very natural look and found Jemma Kidd's lip and lash tints really nice. Also like Smashbox lipgloss but prefer the 'Limitless' long-lasting one not on QVC but available from Just Beauty Direct.
It's always worth asking other forumites about their experiences as I found out why Bare Escentuals irritated my skin on here ( due to it containing bismuth.) So hope you find some answers and have fun...

I used to be primarily a Geller girl and wore no other ranges but hers - then I got a bit braver and experimented. I started with Smashbox (but not from QVC from Jayne's site JBD, much better pricing and service) and have also dabbled with Mally - her eye colours and mascara are brilliant, lipglosses too but they are very highly perfumed.

I switched from Lily Lolo to Elemental Beauty for my mineral foundation, but am now using one from Bare Faced Beauty which I am loving.

Love A'kin I'd love to see your make up stash - if you show your I'll show mine  hee hee xxxx
