....a bit of sushine can do you good :sun: - at least according to an article I read in the press today. Apparently just 20 minutes in the sun a day can help prevent conditions such as cancerand diabetes :wonder: So stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

And you need the sun for vitamin D.:sun:

Just a bit off topic, but when I was visiting my parents in america this summer they were both singing the praises of vitamin D and are taking supplements as well as spending more time outside on the advise of their doctor. As are all their friends.

Thought it was a little strange to be banging on about vitamin D and then heard about a book and theory that is america's new obsession. The book is called "The Vitamin D Solution" by Dr. Michael Holick. It's quite controversial but goes into great depth about what your saying fulhamphil. I Expect to see all lot more about vitamin D in the news.

May even be tempted to buy the book.

Next thing you know, QVC will be selling vitamin D supplements and extolling the virtue of sun along with a special super duper cream to prevent damages at £100. per gram. :smirk:

I have severe osteoporosis and take Vitamin D supplements. My hospital specialist told me that I need to get out in the sun as much as I can. I had to point out that, in Britain, that's not as easy as it sounds! Funnily enough though, I read a similar thing a little while ago and it also said that a lot of people could be feeling tired and fatigued due to lack of Vit. D. A problem which is exacerbated by the modern lifestyle of being indoors so much of the time - home, to car, to office, to mall, to car, to home etc.. Just as an aside, vitamin D is actually a hormone and is best taken with calcium but it's best to check with your doctor first as you could make yourself unwell by taking too much.
