Keep, cull or retrain...

Well, in light of the threads recently on Jill Franks etc I wondered if you were put in charge of The Towers for a day, which presenters would you keep/cull/retrain?

Me:

Keep- Pippa, Julia

Cull - AY, Claudia, Jill, Anne, Craig

Retrain - Jilly (and get a haircut for the love of god), Claire (we're not 3), Alison K (generally inoffensive but needs a new vocab).

(this is not meant to be an excuse to launch a giant bitching thread btw, just a bit of fun. However if you feel the need to explain why you want to cull, knock yourselves out!!):rock:

Oh, The Towers (as in QVC Towers) - I thought this said The Tower at first - was getting quite excited thinking 'Yeah, 'cull' Glen Campbell & feed 'im to the ravens, should keep 'em going for a couple of weeks! lol
Anyway, I digress......

(all self-explanatory really!)

Send everybody else off to QVC Boot Camp for re-training........or maybe a sort of 'QVC Hell's Kitchen', with only 6 places available to the most successful ones, that would be fun! :clapping:

haha! I love this idea! Can you imagine AY trying to choose ONE beauty item though? Surely she'd need a whole cabinet of crap along with a barrell of Ultrasun factor 427?!

Am I right in assuming that 'retrain' means that they remain a presenter, but get help to address their shortcomings? If so, my lists would be

Julia (one of the best presenters, but needs to get over herself a bit and also stop deluding herself, and others, about her dress size)

Kathy (I love her, but would like to see her get some confidence-boosting techniques or assertiveness training)
Clare (drop the baby voice, act like a grown up)

I sometimes wonder (that's how sad I am) if they have supervision and have to sit there with a manager going over recordings of past shows and explain why they used particular phrases over and over and over again, why they shouted, bellowed, shrieked, interupted, why they used words that are not in the dictionary. Anyway going off topic here:

Not really too peturbed by or interested in the rest of them which maybe isn't a good reflection on their skills

I don't think QVC really give a fig about what the viewers think about the presenters and their style...it's the sales figures that is their main deciding factor, IMHO. The screaming and cagouling to buy, buy, buy must work...otherwise why does Jill Franks present so often? She is a very unpopular presenter according to this forum, and yet QVC can't, apparently, manage without her. She must have 'amaaaaaaaaazing' sales figures. As for Alison Young, I have yet to sit through any of her beauty shows, even with the TV on as background noise...yet there she is day after day after day.

Retrain the rest and dependant on performance improvement allocate them their working hours, i.e. VAST improvement more airtime. That would put a rocket up their complacent ar$es
