Just had a peak at the preview of items for todays jewellery day event. What a yawn fest!
So muchgold plated base metal , diamonique and garish B&W good grief is affordable, stylish gold jewllery a thing of the past now? I wanted a morganite ring but most sizes are already sold out unless I want to spend about £1000. Why don't QVC anticipate demand and reflect it by increasing stock levels for event days when everything is on easy pay? I was really thinking of splashing out for an early birthday pressie for myself, but I won't bother watching now I don't fancy a Swarovski crystal cat pendant or a 15carat pink zirconia ring anyway. Or any more veronese wannabe pieces either.i am a grown up woman and I prefer the real thing once in a while . Simulations are ok but not worth more than £50 and they certainly are not" investment pieces"

I absolutely hate themed days though I can just about tolerate the beauty ones. A full day of jewellery bores me beyond belief. I would watch the Lola Rose hour if I were not at work but other than that QVC will not be on in my house today!

Now you can understand how non beauty folk feel on the endless beauty weekends.

What do you think of this?

hope the pic is attached properly. This was my great aunts chain and I had the pendant made out of scrap and broken jewellery that had been sitting in my jewellery box for years, plus a piece that I never wore. The little heart is solid. Obviously the original broken or unwanted items would have cost money, but only one bit was paid for by me, the rest were gifts and all were going to waste. I only had to pay for the labour, which was £75!! For an equivalent solid piece the price would be much much more.

The mold used was from a piece I liked in M & Co of all places, that cost me £1.99.

If you have unwanted or broken items in your collection then you absolutely can get something quality made for you if you know a proper jeweller.

Edit: I can't spell mold, mould, blonde moment, lol. I still dont know!

I think Q have sunk to an all time low with the quality of their jewellery. The DHS and other online shops are full of better quality and often much cheaper items. At one time Q did lovely jewellery at a good price and the quality was excellent. Nowadays it`s hollow shanks, items arriving with stones missing, lightweight silver or gold and way too much plated stuff.
BTW your pendant is lovely weathergirl. I did a similar thing with a large cluster ring which belonged to my Mother. I never wore it because it was too big and plucked my clothes so I had the diamonds taken out, traded in the gold shank and had the stones set into a narrow but heavy weight silver torque bangle. Recycling at it`s best lol !

Thanks Vienna, it's the second time I have done it. The other is my coffee bean pendant that I have mentioned before. I just hate to see anything wasted or unused so I like to use it, or sell it to get exactly what I want!

Totally agree about Q jewellery. I have returned almost everything I have ordered from their jewellery dept over the last couple of years. Only exceptions being the AY ring, a couple of items from the Eternal range (some lovely stuff in there) and some last clicks eek.

Great idea with the ring Vienna- why waste perfectly good stones?

Incidentally-the jeweller told me that had I not re-used my great aunts chain- the pendant would have cost £75 more! The chains Q supply are not very good quality but most of us will have old ones from way back that are going to waste. Mine came up sparkly and new when the jeweller put it in the sonic cleaner. The old ones you have may be dirty but they are of much better quality and would cost a lot of money to replace. Also any chains that have snapped can usually be repaired for around £17, compare that with £50-£80 for a new one depending on the style or length.

Good quality jewellery does not come cheap, and never has done so.

The Stefano Oro range on now is a good example as any of the lower priced items get very poor reviews.

I used to watch jewellery days more or less from start to finish, but not any more. QVC used to have unusual designs in gold and silver jewellery and I have several boxes of it to prove it! I'm sure there are still customers who would buy quality gold items if they were on offer but I agree that the website seems to be awash with plated this and that at inflated prices and it doesn't tempt me much these days.

My mum and I used to really enjoy Jewellery days but both us forgot all about it today and having looked at the stuff that's going to be on don't think I'll bother. They used to have lovely jewellery on there but most of it is now expensive tat, the Bibi Bijou stuff seem terribly overpriced for what it is as does the Lola rose items, I only ordered one thing from her and sent it straight back it just felt cheap. The best things I've had lately from them was stainless steel rings and a chain, good price and really nice items

Having read the very informative replies above, I'm going to avoid buying any more Q Jewellery it is overpriced for the quality. But I am unsure of where elseTo try.Weather Girl and Vienna the idea of recycling broken or unworn pieces is fantastic (the heart pendant is lovely)but ill have to find a jeweller I can trust but I can't get out due to illness, which makes online/TV shopping so attractive.

Just tuned in to see a 'necklace' that looked like it would snap or bend if you touched it. That's money down the pan imo. Better to look in second hand shops or at auction if you want value and quality. Can't beat the Q for convenience though!

Jewellery is my one weakness and I have purchased far too much over the years.

I have purchased gold, hand made pieces at eye watering prices (even then) to cheap as chips costume and everything in between.

My taste has changed over the years but it always has it be that bit different which is why even in costume I like hand made craft items. I buy a fair bit on holiday so it is not the same as every shop either on the HS or on line.

I now favour big pieces which makes solid gold for very special gifts only plus any style even remotely "on trend" it is not sensible to pay precious metal prices.

When I think of prices I paid years ago it seems very reasonable now but in truth they were horrendously expensive at the time but did seem better value.

I used to buy in antique shops, which was never cheap, but just lately even their stock is just vintage ie 70's which is not what I like at all.

Imo all the themed days are boring, some more than others. I have only watched a few mins today. I don't need anymore jewellery and as far as I can see qvc have got nothing new on offer.

Was extremely surprised to hear "me Charley Brooke" wasn't doing any shows today.

I know he is a bit of a prat but give him his due he is always well prepared and knows immediately when the graphics are wrong etc. I strongly believe the content of the shows are a total mystery to most of them - how hard would it be to read those cards whilst having a look at the items pre show and clarifying colours and sizes. Then there would be less of "and what are we calling this" and "no sorry we don't have this one in stock" and "ring Liverpool cos there is no size on my card" FGS it is only 1 hour at a time you have to do if you can't sort it out for 60 minutes then heaven help us.

Could you get away with such shoddy preparation in your workplace? No!

I like Honora but it seems to me the entire show is earrings, earrings and yet more earrings. Hardly worth Ralph's while coming over for 1 hour of old designs. Really hoped for something new and different.

Well said, and whilst we are at it, we want diamonds you can see, not the rubbish dust off the floor.

And please please some modern setting and NO claws. Some of the designs are made up entirely of claw settings and solder.

Actually Eek has better designs at times.

Haven't watched any Qvc today , I find the jewellery days so boring, if I want to buy jewellery I would like to see it in the flesh rather than on tv.
