I’ve still got a mock croc patent black leather evening bag I bought from Bally in the late 70s.
Used for weddings and any special events. Always stored in its cloth bag. Also loaned to my sister for formal nights when she cruises. Yes it was expensive £50 but its certainly had its moneys worth. Also had a matching pair of high heeled shoes, again worn for special occasions. Once I couldn’t wear them any longer (due to back problems) I sold them to a friend.

Also used to buy K shoes and Van Dam shoes.
I think you mean Van Dal; Jean Claude didn't make shoes as far as I know.

I paid 49/11d for a pair of black patent sling backs with "set back" - (remember that description) heel, and they were considered 'good' shoes at that price !
Tights were invented for wearing mini skirts, and I always wore Bengal Bronze or American Tan; while others followed Twiggy with pale tights.

C&A still going strong on the continent, well in Switzerland & Germany certainly.
I wish they were still around - I still have a couple of all-wool coats and a mac I bought from the Ilford branch years ago. The mac can be machine or hand washed and is still in good nick. Their sales were great and as a student without much money I bought nearly all my clothes there.

Do you remember those crocheted cream fishnet tights? They were so uncomfortable and probably looked awful too.

I can remember having many pairs of footless tights, every colour under the sun. Just the thing for queuing outside a club, in your strappy stilettos, in December in Belfast.

I had a pair of cobalt blue ones - when worn in December with strappy shoes, my feet were the same colour 😳. I thought it looked grey, but thinking back I probably looked like a Smurf 🤣🤣

I’m sure my little toes had frostbite! I can remember struggling to get into a pair of leather trousers, standing on the bus for half an hour, couldn’t possibly sit down! Queuing to get to the Club (probably the same one) and sipping one drink all night, as there was no possibility of going to the Loo!! The things we do for Fashion!!

I remember a friend and myself laughing at a bloke in a tan leather suit when we were travelling back from the pub on the top deck of a London bus. Imagine my shock horror a few weeks later when my flat mate introduced her new boyfriend to me. Still wearing aforementioned leather suit. Fortunately he didn’t recognise me. Phew.

I hasten to add this was in 1970 when it wasn’t common for leather suits. Mind you at least in those days it wasn’t leatherette or n todays lingo Vegan leather.

Loved Chelsea Girl, Dorothy Perkins, Etam, Miss Selfridge, going in and trying on everything you wanted and then having to go away and save up for it. No easy pays in those days (maybe just as well!!).
