Could have kicked myself. I was weighing butter to bake a cake and the knife I used for cutting the butter slipped and landed on my lovely new Emu boots. I have a grease mark on my left boot now. I quickly used the UGG sheepskin cleanser from the UGG cleaning kit I bought on Amazon and followed instructions. Will grease come out of sheepskin? If it doesn't come out, is there anything I can do to remove it? Totally gutted - it on the toe area so very noticeable. Mine are the mushroom shade so maybe that teaches me for getting a lighter colour:mysmilie_476::mysmilie_476::mysmilie_476:

Hi

Apparently, you can shake on some baby powder or cornflour - leave it for at least an hour, shake it off and the butter stain should have gone. You may need to do it a couple of times depending on how much it's soaked into the sheepskin. Good luck!

On carpet or upholstery with a grease stain, if you lay brown paper over the stain and iron over it it draws all the grease out. I realize this would be hard to do on boots but if all else fails!!

You might find it easier to use a hairdryer with the brown paper on your boots or to use kitchen towel if you don't have brown paper about the place. I don't want to be a miserable git but it's not going to be an easy one. If you can lift the grease stain then you should be OK.

Good luck!

mix bi carb of soda to a thick paste with some water & plaster a thick coating onto it [ also fetches out snow marks on suede too ]......good luck.....was about to say you shouldnt be wearing 'yer' boots to bake in when i realised i was wearing a pair of mine ....d'oh.....

Thanks for that Iggy, I will try that as its too fiddly to do brown paper and irons or hairdryers. I notice the Good Housekeeping link suggest a mixture involving white vinegar but worried that might strip the colour out of the boot. I won't be baking with them on again but trouble is they are so warm and comfy!

the brown paper works I've used it a few times !!! also works with candle wax xx

OK - have got a thick layer of bicarb on it. If it doesn't work I will go and buy some brown paper tomorrow and try that. Thanks for all the tips. Much appreciated

Oh dear the bicarb has made it worse ;-( Now there's a big huge stain that looks like a wet mark on the front of the boots. I have tried to wash the entire front boot with the Ugg cleanser to try and resolve it.

thats why i wont buy the slippers as much as i adore sheepskin footwear. i am a messy pup and unless you like the patina of stained footwear its a nono.

You could ask at a dry-cleaners, one that specialises in suede and sheepskin; they're pretty good at stain removal if they know what the stain is. I've used cornflour to clean suede gloves, just wear the gloves and do a kind of hand-washing action with a handful of dry corn flour. Infact corn flour is good used dry on any fabric with a grease stain it seems to draw the oil out.

Jude xx
