Jerome Alexander has used them for demos? He is so rough with models, that I wonder if anyone has suffered. The reason I ask, is that, obviously I’m not a beautician but I remember from my last year in school (late 60’s) when we had the makeup lessons that it was drummed into us that you never ever use your fingers, always clean brushes. These were the days when we used to spit on our mascara blocks to wet them!
I specialised, as a nurse, in neurosurgery and ophthalmic theatre. Eye infections are very easy to contract and an absolute misery to have. I notice that J.A. is dreadfully rough with models pulling and pushing their heads and that he uses his fingers ad lib. He may very well start off with cleanly washed hands but I’ve not seen him wash them during his spot. He moves from model to model, under hot lights for quite some time.
I don’t doubt that he knows what he’s doing makeup wise, but he sure doesn’t hygiene wise. Perhaps I am old fashioned and this is the norm these days but when I’ve had my makeup done professionally they always wear a nice white coat, are scrupulously clean and have their kit laid out like I did in theatre
