There are other occasions where a practical kit can be helpful. I bought a bag in Primark, put a cosy, light blanket in it, dry shampoo, unperfumed body lotion, hand cream and shower gel, an eyebrow pencil and some false eyelashes for a dear friend about to start chemotherapy. I couldn't be there to give her day to day practical help, so this was my alternative. She was thrilled, and the blanket never left her side.
