I know we've had this conversation plenty of times before but watching now the stuff seems to have got even tackier looking! How did such a once respected designer label get reduced to this? I mean honestly some of the stuff I'm seeing now would make the stuff hanging up in Primark look like Haute Coiture! It's garish, looks badly made, and is made from obviously cheap fabric - It's pure market stall! I wonder whether BA June worked for the company in the glory days? I mean look at her stood there today wearing a shapeless T-shirt with cheap embellishments and half mast trousers - It's sad. I'd believe her is she said she paid a tenner for her whole outfit, but of course the prices are silly, I mean not Marla Wynne or Ruth Langsford silly but silly none the less.

Baggy, one size fits all, ridiculous asymmetrical hemlines, who buys this stuff? Patterned materials look like an explosion in a paint factory!

My late Mum used to buy Frank Usher “costumes” in the 1960’s. Really smart tailored suits, with straight skirts and neat jackets, often Chanel-style.

Mum and Dad weren’t rich but Mum liked ‘good’ clothes and scoured the sales.

I’m planning to de-clutter my wardrobes and send a lot of my clothes to charity. I’m planning to get a few classic pieces from vinted and in the sales.
My resolution will be to spend less on fast fashion.

I'm very much out of the loop and have been for a long time, so I've don't know about Primark and neither Frank Usher until meeting June on QVC. Primark must be an 'affordable' place to shop and, as far as I can tell, Frank Usher has already had his day. I wonder if June is able to keep the brand afloat. The tops seem to sell out quickly but the dresses really do look bad.

I assume the change in quality must indicate that they have been taken over by another company. I remember going on cruises and the Frank Usher stuff was very smart and well made, nothing like what I see on QVC

Many of these ‘names’ from years ago which are often associated with style and quality are bought out and end up attached to cheap looking tat.Frank Usher is just one of them.

Yes, some other company has bought, no doubt just for the name. Happens all the time with perfume houses and makeup.

Primark has some OK stuff. I like some of their knickers and the faux fur lined leggings are great and I got some pyjamas last year. The bottoms are great but the t shirts that were with them were too warm for me even in winter and went to the charity shop.. That's about it,the fit on some items are ridiculous. The store is mainly full of pre teens buying all the cheap make up and perfumes and mothers with babies and toddlers.
I've seen people with the huge nets full of stuff.

If it fits a 22 it will fit a 10. If you small these one sizes make you look like orphan Annie

Sounds like the dreaded 'throw away' clothing. But, on the other hand, who wants to wear the same clothes that you spent a lot of money on year in and year out? I wonder if the women who forked out for sequin clothes this Christmas/New Year will ever wear them again.

I've decluttered from four rails of clothes down to one rail. What I got rid of were things I haven't worn for two years. So far no regrets.
