I've always suspected that Kim might have a degree of autism, or is certainly 'on the spectrum'. She says herself in her Q adverts '...I was always so shy, but as soon as it wasn't about me and it was all about the clothes...'. She often seems to struggle to look people in the eye when she speaks, and she has quite a stilted and robotic delivery - it often seems slightly unnatural. However, the biggest clue for me is her encyclopaedic knowledge of sizes, item numbers, item numbers of matching/complementary products. It goes beyond 'well prepared'.

Personally, I don't mind Kim - precisely because she knows her product inside-out and is always well prepared, able to answer any questions about it and makes the effort to regularly appear on QVC UK.

:mysmilie_502: years ago bought Space Bags from the Q, I was really happy with them until one burst open in the middle of the night, I must have heard the hissing while dreaming & I thought I was being eaten by a snake.

:mysmilie_15::mysmilie_15::mysmilie_15::mysmilie_15: soooooooooo funny.

I can laugh about it now but at the time I threw myself out of bed to get away from it. On a serous note a couple of months ago I had sleep paralysis & it was petrifying. Mr T was away & one night this entity moved across the bottom of our bed, climbed in - I could even feel the movement on the mattress & started stroking my neck. In my dream I touched the hand & it felt soft, almost boneless, I was literally pinned to the bed but then had the idea of throwing my glass of water at it, at this point it drifted away as I obviously woke up. When I looked it up I was horrified by the stories of Incubus & the fact that some poor souls regularly have these terrors during rem sleep. When his nibs came back I told him all about it, he obviously wasn't listening because he thought I was talking about the cat..! Sorry CC, all that from a Space Bag & your laughing men.

Back a few years I used to buy and wear quite a lot of Kim's stuff. I now own 3 dresses which are simple sleeveless dress in 3 different colourways of the same pattern; a jumper; and a jacket I wear as a top around Christmas. They are excellent quality and lovely patterns. I get compliments when I wear them. These days I struggle to see anything wearable on the shows, as they are horrible colour combinations of floral designs. I also cannot justify the sky-rocketing prices for polyester. I tend to go to Sainsbury's for most of my clothes now... They have some lovely things in cotton, viscose and even modal at a fraction of what QVC brands charge.

:mysmilie_502: This is a great post & very helpful. I've got three of their zipped square chests, they are in the wardrobe in the spare room & contain my winter clothes during the summer & vice versa. I've also got the washbag & I really rate it because it has a firm edge & is perfect for my straighteners & brushes when going away. I've always been a 'place for everything, everything in its place' person so love storage & years ago bought Space Bags from the Q, I was really happy with them until one burst open in the middle of the night, I must have heard the hissing while dreaming & I thought I was being eaten by a snake.

I've tried to capture that above!

I like her too, in spite of all the jigging......My comment further up the thread was observational. She does seriously know her s##t, & I really like that, plus her 'heritage' is something I like.

Blimey! Was there actually the water (from glass) all over the bed?

Could your house be haunted?

No, I didn't throw it, only thought about it during this awful dream. No haunting either, it's a phenomenon that happens when we're in rapid eye movement sleep. I remember most of my dreams but this was something else & for the rest of the time Mr T was away on his sporting trip I slept with the light on, something I didn't even do when I was a child.

You could try sleeping with the radio on - Radio 4 or something quiet. Might be less invasive, or one of those little plug in night lights...

Oh gosh, my heart goes out to you or anyone who has or does suffer from sleep paralysis and/or night terrors.

Because of an exisiting, chronic illness, and also medication side effects, I have horrendous sleep problems (they even want to study me at a sleep clinic as such an "interesting case"..! Sadly too ill with primary condition to go at the moment) and this includes regular episodes of both...

As you've experienced, sleep paralysis is hideous. For me, the presence often comes into my room and sits on my chest, or I have intruders coming up the stairs but because your body is "paralysed", you can't react or move or get away. Sometimes I have all sorts of weird multi-sensory experiences as part of it too. Afterwards I am often too scared to go back to sleep...
At one point they were so bad, I used to keep myself awake on purpose to avoid them.

They say it's worse when you're over-tired, and under stress. Also sleeping on your back makes it worse (def does for me). Mine has got less frequent recently (was having them x3/4 a week) which is a huge relief. Although seem to be having more terrors!

Don't know if it's still on there, but there was a really good 3 part series on sleep disorders on More 4.
(Just looked and the "Secrets of Sleep" is still there on All 4 to watch if anyone interested!)

So sorry not sure how rheas got from Kim & co to sleep disorders but it's my specialist subject so I had to comment ;)

As for Kim, I wouldn't want to diagnose or ascribe a mental health issue to her, especially based on her on-screen persona/behaviour... But she does come across as very "kooky"!!

Surely if she were really shy, she wouldn't even dream of appearing on screen?

And her delivery can be really rather off-putting. She seems sweet but I do find her a bit awkward to watch - not that I do much since no interest in the clothes! Some items look quite useful basics but they're so pricey! And don't get me started on her trousers - especially on the tall models!

But back in the day, the lady who introduced me to QVC, now very sadly now gone, used to buy and wear quite a bit of Kim & Co and she always looked lovely in it - quite floral tunics and maxi skirts etc...

Lou - You have my greatest respect, coping with one was bad enough so to have so many must be awful beyond words. Thank you, I'll definitely find the series. I did read that if you have a recurring dream it's possible to put a stop by thinking about it during the day & at the point it becomes really bad visualise something lovely or funny, as in a Harry Potter Boggart. Kim & Co -> Camoflague sisters -> Space Bags -> dreams, the last two were from me hijacking which is something I do too often. Sweet dreams Lou.

I like enthusiastic people & I like creative people. Kim M is both, even if her enthusiasm is of the hyper variety & her creativity can be hit & miss. Listening to her is like reading something without spaces & punctuation or sitting through a play by Shakespeare when you don't know the plot & can only understand the occasional word.

Uh Oh, putting my big foot in it again! Sorry for laughing, I didn't know the facts :mysmilie_11:

Talking of storage I've bought several of these Space Bags from Ideal World.

The postage is off putting but they often have free postage on every item on their website (sorry you've just missed one over the August Bank Holiday) Even with postage that's the same price as the item they're a good deal - the bags are good sizes but the hand pump is rubbish, you need a vacuum with a hose.

Nooooo, you didn't put your foot in anything. The Space Bag fiasco was funny & it was years ago, just after it happened I read the Shopaholic books on holiday & in one of them Becky Bloomwood's bags burst out of a cupboard spraying clothes everywhere, my daughter & I were in stitches over it. The sleep paralysis episode was only last month & it was horrible but you could never have known so no problems at all

For all her gabbling Kimmy is very focused on her product details and doesn’t like it when the presenters go off piste. For that reason alone she gets my vote.

The awful Abbey x 2, dreadful Vonda, etc or Kim - no contest in my book.
