Ha ha ha, justification for drinking voddie Janie and Barbs would be so proud of you Nikki. Do you know how many calories in Malibu as I like to take that with cranberry and get one of my 5 a day lol

Haha well I like to carry the flag for good ol' voddie lol :wink:

I believe that malibu & bacardi are about twice the cals of vodka. I used to be a bacardi drinker until I googled & checked that out. I think it's the higher sugar content in them. Another voddie tip a bar owner told me is don't drink the standard stuff that tends to have a red label as the red label implies it's not as good quality. The Morrisons specialist one is really good as made with grain and made in France. Very smooth. Nice with cranberry too. I'm after ordering Grey Goose infused with orange as seen it about 50% more for your money on line. It's expensive but for the last drink of the eve settles the stomach & tastes divine! Ideally it's my one ultimate tipple, it's like the cristal of voddie x.

Wow thank you Nikki I'll give that a go - if I switch to voddie instead of Malibu I can have two and get twice as much vitamin C lol x

Granola

Lizis granola (Tesco) is the brand that DC use. MarieCat, it's difficult to give up/reduce carbs, but I have lost weight. Had a few days AtTheTrough this week and oh, I felt 'rough' - so glad to get back to salads etc. But the bowls DC show with the cereal, they must put 3 packets in! They're teeny in reality.

look at all that sugar (the number one cause of weight gain!)

Diet Chef muesli bar...

Carbohydrate
59g (of which sugars 34.5g)

If you want to lose weight then forget rubbish like this... and all the 0% fat products are complete nonsense as well - as long as you leave out hydrogenated fats(chips/cookies etc etc). I used to eat garbage like this ---- the food industry have a lot to answer for with all the marketing tactics, ingredients they use in products. Please stay away from the junk! (you'll feel a lot better too...)

I think most chips and biscuits are free from hydrogenated fats these days...and it's pretty easy to find stuff that's not and I know most supermarket stuff no longer uses it.

Ohhh like the sound of the Grey Goose will look it up online for my birthday treat he he. We don't have Morrisons here so any other ideas for vodka. We usually dont buy the well known brands and stick to cheaper ones, but i think they have red labels, .... oh no.... ive been doing it wrong LOL

The concept at first glance seems good.Pay up for one months meals then you don't have to think about what you are eating-- result weight loss!
The reality-- you are not satisfied with the 'ready meals' / they taste like what they are & you end up eating other things & spending more money---result weight gain.
I am following Weight Watchers & make most of my own meals following their recipes with fresh ingredients & fill up on fruit.IMO much more health & I have lost weight & feel in control.( I have friends who have lost also with Slimming World & Rosemary Connelly)Which ever you prefer they offer a rethink on how you eat rather than a 'quick fix'.

Haha, me & my mum used to wonder back in the day why we felt like our stomachs had had a good bashing when we'd had a couple of voddies the nite b4. Turns out we haven't had that for years since we changed to other varieties. I think the stuff in the red labels tends to be made of cheaper stuff so more likley to cause hangovers & upset tummies. Absolut is ok & one in Waitrose, name like Danoff, it's £11 & has a black label, says it's 5 times distilled. That's really good for the money, far better than the red label stuff imo.

I can't recall the site for the Grey Goose as it's in my work diary I think Hun. When I see what it is I will let you know. I also want to check them out as it's a considered purchase to buy as the postage means that you need to get 4 or 5 to make it worthwhile . Family & friends want a bottle so we're splitting the order. May be worth trying a shot when you're out or trying a bottle if you feel flush from the supermarket. It's about £35-£37 for 70cl but I don't think they do the orange or lemon infused ones just the plain. That's gorgeous too tho, just pricey!! xx.

Thanks for all that Nikki, will try and get a bottle for my birthday instead of champagne. Only on this forum would the title be Diet Chef and we've got on the subject of good old voddie LOL

@ candycane My OH has to lose 2 stone by April by request of his diabetic doc ...

Hi candycane, there is actually a way he could sort this - although it's brutally strict and it would be good to talk to his doctor about it too - and it's this: give up the refined carbohydrates and sugar (carbohydrates convert to sugar); he would have to give up bread, biscuits, potatoes, rice, pasta... and put the emphasis on non-starchy veggies, protein and fresh fruit (watch grapes though as they're high in sugar, and dried fruits are too high in sugar). That would mean for example: eggs or fresh fruit and some nuts for breakfast, salad with chicken or fish for lunch (avocados and raw mushrooms with this are good too), homemade hearty lentil/broth/bean soups for tea that sort of thing - lots of dark green veggies like kale and spinach in the salads and soups too. The weight drops off believe me! It's healthy and would help with the diabetes too.

It certainly sounds healthy but also a recipie for lots of parping:blush:

Haha yeh!! :giggle: The other good thing I guess is that it will last longer than champers xx.

i've always thought diet chef looked like a total rip off. Sure the pounds will fall away but mostly from your purse!
You buy their packets of spaceman food and have to pay all over again to add your own veg, potatoes, rice etc as its not a meal otherwise.
I always feel like ringing in when its on to ask why they show complete meals on the show when in reality they've added all of the other ingrediants and barely mention that fact.

I think the nutritional err "value" is questionable imo too! A sryupy milkshake to replace a meal??! If I hadn't have just lost my beloved little doggie & been tipsy & emotional last year when it was on air I'd never have ordered the blasted stuff, I wasn't even overweight! Who oh why did I not google & find this forum then b4 I ordered it DOH! It's not offering a balanced diet at all! Poor Julia R seems to have put on a fair bit since she was last into DC. Yo-yo dieting, portions that leave you unfullfilled & lacking in essential nutrients doesn't work in the longer term & isn't good for anyone.

Bacardi and Vodka are the same calories.

Not according to St. Google. Some sites give a cal count for "white spirit" but when you look into it Bacardi/white rum is up to double the calories of vodka. There's always conflicting info, however rum is sugar based & one of the slimming clubs (Weight Watchers, I think it is), class white rum as 2 units & vodka as 1.
