respect to "mad anuties" if you don't mind....:giggle: we've worked hard to cultivate that look
am not convinced as to her prowess as a make up artist, on the (very) few occasions I've seen her put make up on someone else, she's looked very cack-handed

Funny how you read the forum members names, I've always read it as Ma Daunty as in Mother Daunty. :hi:

I know AY always spouts on about having 20/25 yrs in the Beauty industry but it's one thing actively working in a salon day in day out to literally actually presenting a beauty show for you. No doubt she's kept in touch with the latest products etc for obvious reasons.

In the early years she was the one who always demonstrated products on the models but it is very rare to see her do that now. To be a true beauty expert you need to work on clients regularly and constantly update your skills not just use them on yourself and talk about them. Maybe she does have clients outside of QVC who knows.

It's a bit like saying I'm a qualified hairdresser with 20yrs experience but I haven't cut anyones hair for the last 15!!

Well I like Alison, I think she is a bit extreme in some of the things she says, but she can laugh at herself. I met her at one of the beauty events and she was lovely............absolutely no airs and graces at all. She was so willing to hang around and answer questions without being full of herself like many of the presenters on QVC. I know she wears odd outfits sometimes, but what the heck.........I'm sure some of us look a bit iffy sometimes. I just think she is slightly eccentric in some of the things she says and does, but she does sometimes give some valuable advice too. I would miss her if she decided to leave QVC.

I agree with you dottiebird, I quite like her sense of humour & that she does take the piddle out of herself at times.

I don't understand why she overdoes the make up though especially the Tin Man look, as she looks much younger when she has a simple natural make up on. I do love the fact though she's 'Proud to be Pale' as that is her natural skin tone.... better than the old leather handbag look some of the other presenters go for...

The few times I've seen AY applying makeup to someone she didn't even look as though she was holding the brushes correctly. She splodged some blush on one of the poor sods one day resulting in a beautiful Aunt Sally look, then came out with the gem 'well you can blend it better at home'!! Better than an expert qualified in all areas of everything since time began??! She clearly hasn't kept up with the latest trends etc as the only time she looks fresh or modern is when Mally or Nina from SB gets their hands on her.
