you might have to leave it connected up and the plug for it left in (or just set a reminder to plug the hard drive in) and it will do it automatically

I've just sent mine back :11: I'm fairly computer literate and have to say it did back up the PC, but then converted everything to code numbers:52: and neither me nor my highly IT literate son could work out what it had done. Outcome - cleared it all off and sent it back as faulty.

I've bought a simple hard drive and it does the job for a lot cheaper

I had a similar experience, Aranlady. Couldn't figure out what it had copied and how to get at it...realised that any mass storage device and my Save & Restore would automatically back up documents. Thanks for all your opinions, though, it was helpful!
