Sexiest Fragrance Ever!!

I'm shocked nobody has mentioned Estee Lauder's Youth Dew which imo is the sexiest fragrance ever! Quite heady when first put on but mellows into a lovely warm pong that lasts for hours and hours. It was my first perfume back in the 70s and evokes such great memories :muscle: and I've worn it ever since although not exclusively now.

If you love the L'Occitane, try Jo Malone's Red Roses - Its expensive, but worth it :hi:

I love Red Roses by Jo Malone and have worn it for years but I don't like the L'Occitane Rose ones at all. The girlie in L'Occitane did explain the "difference" and the reason why I might not like both. I can't remember what she said though!

My other favourites are Osca de la Renta original which I've worn on and off for 25 years, and Frederic Malle's Lipstick Rose. I do like others and am currently wearing English Pear and Freesia by Jo Malone. An unusual choice for me.

They have reformulated Red Roses recently it seems.

I'm wearing Feminite du Bois parfum today.

Aromatics Elixir I wore the parfum then a friend started wearing the edt and I couldn't stand it anymore.

Samsara I liked then a workmate wore it day in day out and I began to hate the stuff. Escape another work mate drown herself in the stuff, it was vile.

ohhhhh....i loved escape!! mind you, when a colleague was preggers, it was the one thing that set off her morning sickness! i'd forgotten about aromatics elixir - yep, liked that, very distinctive - one of those perfumes you recognise immediately, like you do youth dew.

another fave from the 80s was paris - ysl? and first - remember that? van cleef and arpel. one i receive a lot of compliments on is rush.

goodness me - just mentioned it, turned the page and found this - i agree! ohhh......the (sexy) memories...........could never get the smell out of anything - it was in my clothes - came up like a cloud when i ironed a neckline, even impregnated my necklace!

I have just been looking for something called poreless flawless made by Philosophy. I can't find it on QVC so hunted on the internet and found out that Coty bought out Philosophy. I was really shocked because you don't see much coty stuff around. Then I found out that they also bought out OPI!

I knew Liz earle had sold out to Avon but this one really passed me by..

Did you ever find the Poreless Flawless? I've been hunting the web for it for ages. I was in John Lewis today and next to the Philosophy products they had a small catalog of products but the only primer they mentioned was The Present! Wonder if it is being discontinued or if they are not going to sell it in the UK anymore :sad:

I remember feeling so sophisticated when I first wore Youth Dew in my early twenties which would have been early 1970's . I also loved Cinnabar by Estee Lauder which was oriental and spicy. Another very pungent perfume was Pagan by Picot , not for the faint hearted ! Max Factor had a heady perfume called Hypnotique which my Mother used to wear and I would pinch some to wear to the Co-op youth club to impress the local talent!

Oh I wish I'd seen the make up, I think I was about 12 when I first got Babe so the make up will have been out of my price range then (things soon changed when I started work :blush.

yep, remember all of those. because i adored youth dew so much, i worked my way through all the estee lauder perfumes - i think there were 4 or 5 at the time. white linen was really nice. there was one in yellow packaging that i can't remember the name of. none of them were a patch on youth dew though.

My first job when I left school was working in Sandwich, Kent at a company called Pfizer (viagra?), where they produced Coty products, and their own in house version, called The House of Romney. I started in the 'typing pool'.

Yes, I remember all of the products mentioned - they also produced the diets biscuits Limmits and Trimmits. The staff shop was brilliant, Coty lipsticks were 1 shilling (5p), face powder around the same price, and the Coty L'aimant perfume in the black bottle was 3 shillings (60p). The best time was at Christmas when all the gift boxes came out, and we bought them all for xmas presents at ridiculous prices. Mind you, I was only earning £4/10/- thats £4.50p PER WEEK !!!!!! The subsidised bus travel was 50p per week, and by the time I gave Mum my housekeeping of £2, I was left with £2 all for myself !!!!

I like this thread, not been watching q this week so been a bit quiet on here. I have to be really careful with perfume as I seem to be allergic to do much of it. As a girl It was The Body Shop white musk for me, plus the Tea Rose in the little perfume oil bottles (discontinued now). Now I have had to forego most perfume until L'occitaine- my current one is the new Delice de Fleurs. Love it and not a rash in sight! Also adore the smell of Elemis exotic Frangipani Monoi and plaster myself in it. It reminds me of the smell of Lipsil original! Also rather odd I know but I love the smell of Dove original deoderant spray and Mum cool blue Roll on! I have used Mum for many many years after they stopped doing Soft and Gentle cool blue (why do they keep doing that?) not really perfume I know but hey, a smell is a smell!

I had a friend who loved a scent called Blase, I thought it smelled like "Flit" (which was a fly spray), not only that I was allergic to it and it caused my blood sugar to drop alarmingly, then I would get a migraine. I hated to do it, but I had to ask her to stop wearing it. Such a shame but I felt so ill every time she wore it, she was kind enough to do so. There are a lot of men's fragrances that have a similar note in them to that "Blase" and I can't bear to be around anyone that smells like that, well, it literally makes me ill!

I, too, loved Kiku. I was in Boots tonight and there was a whole Coty L'Aimant display!

My first "grown up" fragrance was "Miss Dior", it is far too sweet for me now! I loved Clinique's "Simply" and love Clinique "Happy", I also love Gucci "Envy", which I thought Avon's Soie Rouge smelled very much like and I also like the Christian Lacroix Rouge for Avon. My brother's m-in-law used to wear Eau Sauvage, which I love on both men and women.

Oooh, I loved Korres' Body Water Vanilla Cinnamon.

I remember Pagan. My mum had a little bottle in her handbag and I used to dab it on. Youth Dew she also wore, it made my neck itch for some reason so I had to apply to my wrists only.

Yes Cinnabar I had it. I remember a book I read about Estee Lauder and she threw a major fit when Opium was released as Cinnabar was about to be released and she was convinced they had stole her fragrance. They had to delay the Cinnabar release and tweak it.

My first proper French perfume was Femme by Rochas(they reformulated it in 1989 and added cumin!!! So it smells totally different now), I managed to get a vintage bottle of the pdt(the older version of edp) and its the one I remember as a teenager.

My first Dior was Dioressence I had to save up for it. Another one reformulated which has changed. LVMH own Guerlain,Dior and Givenchy and discontined loads of their perfumes or reformulated and used cheap ingredients.

The first Guerlain I owned was Shalimar.

bought all the charlie and red perfumes but the next step was aperge,bal a versaille and first. then all the vandebelts and more high street fragances came in. oscar de la renta was my friends fav never smelt like any thing on me..
then came the brash stuffoison,cinnabar and opium all made me feel queasy as they were so strong lol.
the issey miake was unusual as it was so fresh and sweet.
but i have never grown out of my chypre scents just love them.
i even wore eau savage an aftershave for a while. always have y in my wardobe till this day to me one of the most unusual and sophisticated fragrance ever made imo

i like this thread it's wonderful how the scent of something can instantly take you back to a memory or a person like i'll always associate body shop white musk with my mum it's always been her favourite and whenever i smell it i think of her the power of the senses is a wonderful thing
