Yesterday I took some unwanted clothes to my local charity shop. Whilst I was there I noticed a pair of beautiful Ethiopian opal earrings or perhaps I should say, one was beautiful, the other, wasn't. Thinking it was a trick of the light, I asked to see them. The very helpful lady told me, quite...
I think it's important to know that whilst presenters may know more about gems than the information on the screen in front of then, they are not gemologists, they are sales people and are therefore unlikely to tell us the unvarnished truth.
Before I say more, I must tell you that personally, in general, I'm not keen on this range and Michele's own style is not to my taste. However, having just seen her mother modeling I have to credit both women with style.
I agree that this range is not avant garde. I was buying garments like it in Ostende 6yrs ago and in Germany the following year. For larger ladies these places are a joy to shop in as the cater in every store for larger sizes , without changing the style.
My jeweller, who I know and trust, said that GIA (Gemological Institute of America) wasn't something they recognized or had dealings with. Perhaps they were being tactful. I don't buy new jewellery, I prefer something with some age to it because the workmanship can be relied on in a way that...
I haven't dieted since reading Paul Mckenna's "I can make you Thin." It isn't a diet. It isn't a quick fix. It's a life style. I eat what ever I want, but MUCH less of it. I put food on smaller plates. the cake which promises six portions delivers twelve portions(six mouthfuls don't taste better...
I agree with all you say. I'm a classically trained singer and I'm still reeling at the memory of what happened to Charlotte Church. I cringe when I recall the small girl, with undoubted potential, standing there singing operatic arias when her voice was no where close to being ready for it. It...
I think you raise a very valid point here. She has a pleasant, tuneful voice, but had she looked in any way OTHER than how she did, she would never have rated a second glance. I feel that something similar is being done regarding Lisa Riley and Strictly. She dances VERY well, but whittle her...
It is all about contrast. The further away from the natural shade, the artifical shade is, the more out of true the roots appear as they come through, to the point where dark blonde roots can show dark brown when contrasted against pale blonde tint.
I know that items have to be magnified to give viewers a good look at them, but I also know, that because of this I'm going to be disappointed when the item arrives. It will have morphed from something worthy of gracing the fingers of royalty into something I could see in any chainstore jewellers.
Unless it was the lighting, much of what I saw looked like J-M in colour and visibly included, with prices way beyond what I would comsider appropriate for hollowed out 9ct gold. I can see however, that the easy pay option could make it look like an attractive opportunity.
Certain countries are the benchmark of fine stones, Burma, Ceylon, Colombia. Why, oh why, must they shove these also rans down our throats, set in 9ct gold or worse still, coated, as being of comparable quality.
After nearly 50 years experience and an A level in science, I can tell you that very little can be done to permanently correct damaged hair, that DOESN'T involve a pair of scissors. By damaged I mean hair which has been chemically OVER processed-a poor colour choice on its' own, won't. Several...
I wear eeks alongside the real thing. Nobody can tell the difference. Givaways CAN be the settings and IMO, ALWAYS the weight, but unless I take the ring off for somebody to try on, which I often do, how would they know. My most useful eeks are a pair of platinum clad band rings set with tiny...
My late partner bought me a pair of Majorica baroque pearl earrings which I treasure. They are very large, approx 12mm, and fitted with a shepherds hook. The Queens regular earrings are large pearl studs with a diamond attached and look stunning. I decided to sell my late fathers gold watch and...
Anyone who has at one time HAD a voice will know that there comes a time when their "instrument" is past it's best. It happened to the sublime Callas but she still had something worth listening to, unlike lovely Paul, who was only ever able to make a sound that made us scream. I you listen to...
Hi, Meeshoo, so good to see you posting again. I do try, but find it SOOOOOOOOOO difficult to watch those silly girls gurning and pretending they're the last word in knowledge of gems. Insisting that humpty hump thousand is way too low for a gem, which I suspect they have never heard of and know...
