    Random Musings and Critiques Etc.

Looked at that Vintage Cash Cow (same blue colours as Discount Dragon, not the same people is it?) and thought might be useful in future for a bulk house clearance, more to get rid of stuff than wanting top cash for it. I've been buying things off eBay for about 5 years, bidding/offering...

    Rob

@miaandmum Yeah, he's been on Shop on TV (ITV1 from 1am) regularly, usually over the weekend shifts. Highlights also on Freeview 89 (after midnight) when his repeat slots often appear. He's been selling food choppers, vacuums, steam irons, bedding. He was also replying on here a week or so ago.

Presumably they label it "Perpetual Luxury" to try and associate with Rolex oyster perpetual movements. But very, very different.

He had the jabs, but unfortunately they went into his eyebrows and forehead.

They had a documentary on Marcel Duchamp on BBC4 last night and I thought he didn't look like much of a watchmaker to me. Maybe his dad. 😜

I'd like to watch that in IMAX 3D.

See, I said you had a good memory. I am happy to report that the demise of Wimpy is premature and they're still going. Beefeater (Whitbread) is also still going. https://www.beefeater.co.uk/en-gb/about-us Bentall's (now Fenwick's group) Army & Navy (House of Fraser, Sport Direct group) Berni...

Anyone fancy starting a list up to Xmas. I'll try a few to start off: Tandy... so... Maplin Woolworth's Dolcis Freeman Hardy & Willis C&A (remember my joke last year?? Gone from uk) Burton's Bejam's (ok, now Iceland) BHS (British Home Stores) Littlewoods (online now, Very, etc.) Damart shops...

Your memory detail for things past is excellent. Half man half biscuit, John Collier, Tandy, Dukla Prague, etc. Ad infinitum. Have you thought of writing a memoir, or "Remember when...?" anecdotes type book? Just what I'd want for Xmas... Must be many reminiscences books out there I guess.

I just saw that. I laughed. Have said before I think he has top set dentures, which don't help. He was fiddling or moving them with teeth slightly last week, but not certain, couldn't see definitively.

Wtf? They were selling it on IW TV last week for £39.99. Now listed at £129.99 on IW site. It's RCA phono jacks (only), and Bluetooth, not usb, btw. With a mains adapter power lead. I think their site details description (usb/3W) is wrong, for another product maybe. The 1 review is...

Ahhh yes, thanks, Frigidaire. They're still mainly all made in Japan, I think. (Dunno if China has yet muscled in?) Many of the components (front door, insides, inner box metal cube, lining) it seems are all from same one or two factories (compare Panasonic, Sharp, Russell Hobbs, inner...

Website front page now blank. Just the logo. https://createandcraft.com/ Rest of the site still there, hidden behind it. The live stream is still showing repeats and not taking payments obviously: https://watch.createandcraft.com/live/1178?date=2024-10-20 I think we can assume C&C is...

Your microwave is from the 80s? 😲 Wow. What make is it? How has it lasted so long? Infrequent use? We go through a microwave every 5+ years when the electrics go (the magnetron that creates the waves) or the transformer/power supply. Or gets too rusty (but we clean it down and usually ok)...

Well I suppose to give IW credit the Timeless Oud is £14.99 in Debenhams, eBay, elsewhere, so their £11.99 was reasonable. But it shows what sort of mark-up they're all making on these. They're a bit like watches, or gems, or beauty Opatra stuff, it's worth whatever people will pay. Perceived...

Agreed. Unlike a steak which can be rare in the middle, the bacteria is only on the outside. Whereas a burger is minced meat which has taken the bacterial surface and mixed it up into the pattie, necessitating it be fully cooked through.

Interesting. What is the balance between getting the grill plates hot enough to char the exterior, while the microwave cooks the contents. Don't want to overcook the innards while trying to grill the outsides. One tip to try is pre-heat the plates for 3 minutes before you put the food on.
