Gemporia - ASA 'final warning' - AT LAST!

Anyone else see Adina on now flogging Paraiba tourmaline. She said twice “natural “ Paraiba with no heat treatment. That’s not what it said on the details where it said H. They just can’t help themselves.

The Ethiopian ones are lovely but I’m always afraid they will change colour as they are so absorbent.

Thank you . It’s really great to have the opinion of people who collect stones. You are concentrating on the actual gem. I missed the rubies but I saw you all seemed to like their coober Pedy opal pendants with the darkish backgrounds so I bought one of those. I don’t believe a word that the...

What do the collectors who know about gems think of their purple sapphires which are being shown on gem collector at the moment. I know it is an expensive stone so are their prices ok .

    Gemporia still sinking

I couldn’t agree more. Was watching gems the other evening and it occurred to me that their sales spiel now has nothing to do with having something pretty to wear and enjoy and all to do with “investment” prospects. I think there’s a place in jewellery collections for all sorts of items from...

    Gemporia still sinking

Adina is on at the moment waxing lyrical about what they are calling “paraiba topaz” and showing the usual pictures of high end Paraiba tourmaline for huge prices. Bad enough you might think but when I looked them up online THEY'RE COATED. Surely that’s not legal.

    Lyndsay ...

I saw some of that. Isn’t it supposed to be 999 silver as opposed to 925.

Thanks again for all the info. I used to buy with confidence from gems but seeing the rubbish they talk particularly about jade has dented my confidence. That bit about the GIA v. EGL is particularly useful. One thing that they say is true though , when you go into a high street jewellers they...

    Gem Collector Prices

I’m glad I found this group. I really know very little about gems.. I always have to like the item but you know the way it is. I don’t like to think I’ve been had. On the other hand I know enough not to pay any attention to their legacy nonsense and comparing their stuff to designer names where...

    Jade Troth is back

Especially as they can get them for a few pounds on Temu if they like them.

Thank you Andy. I didn’t know that at all. I assumed they were using the standard GIA grading.

What do people think of their Lorique diamond grades. Do you think they are more reliable than their coloured stones grades. It’s nice to have the opinion of the people here who certainly know a lot more about it than I do.

    Jade Troth is back

I would put the start of the downhill slide at Gemporia around the time when they gave out the shares as well. That was the time most of the presenters started showing their own ranges with very varying degrees of success and interest to the viewer.

    Jade Troth is back

That’s what I think has happened. I don’t think it’s a matter of Troth getting rid of too much jade bought I think it’s going to be the norm from now on. He seems to specialise in pearls shell and jade. GEMS seems to be becoming more like Amazon Or Etsy. There really is very little of their own...

Thanks for the tip. How great it would be if they would just specify. I’ve asked c.s. but anyone who has shopped with them knows how great they are NOT.

I wonder does anyone have any thoughts on this black opal from TJC . It’s in platinum with diamond for 460 . Im an even worse judge of opals than other gems. I know black opals are expensive but on the other hand shouldn’t there be more colour.
