Elmslie, that's it. Memory is getting shocking these days! Nice violet jumpers, although I expect they all grew to loathe all shades of purple! I remember the QM brown bowler hats. I thought their uniform was very sophisticated! I think I'm a few years older than you Akimbo, so even if I'd...

I like to think I may have gone there myself, if we hadn't emigrated a couple of months prior to me taking the 11+. We lived in Freck' at the time and QM's was our nearest GS, otherwise it would have been Carr Hill at Kirkham. I rather fancied myself in the lovely purple uniform at (?)Elmfield...

Yong Kim breaks the £200 barrier

Wow! I have some YK clothes, mostly bought from ebay though. Never paid full price for anything, and no polyester ones, mine are all a nice weighty viscose jersey.

Oooh! You went to Queen Mary's?

Yes, I know I'm old fashioned.........

I had a lovely holiday in Amalfi some years ago. Stunning. But oh, so crowded.

Just as an aside. I am really getting pig sick of this silly trend to call Beige things 'Nude'. Firstly, an inanimate object cannot be 'Nude'. Secondly, there is no such colour as 'Nude', since no two naked bodies are the same shade. It's BEIGE for crying out loud! (And it's dead boring).

Ugly, overpriced pot in an array of dismal colours? No, thank you.

Fresh isn't a word I'd use to describe carbolic, really. I'd say it's a more 'medicinal' antiseptic type of smell. Only oneway to find out though, and that's to buy a bar and see what you think. You can always use it up on household jobs if you hate it.

    Mr Max Fashion TSV 14/08/18

I might have been in the market for a pair of navy trousers, but watching the video presentation online has put me right off! They don't fit any of the models properly, there are cat's whiskers and drag lines galore, even on the slim models. The larger model looks like she's got dressed from...

My MIL still gets misty eyed at the memories of going out dancing on a Saturday night, wafting a trail of Soir de Paris! I bought her a bottle a few years ago, assuming they had relaunched a version of it, but sadly she said it smelled nothing like the one she used to wear.

Thanks for the heads up TLL! I bought a faux leather biker jacket in the last 25% off deal, cost me about £25 including delivery. It's beautiful, and feels like the real McCoy, nobody would guess it's not real leather.

Carbolic is what your mum would wash your mouth out with if you used bad language!

Thanks Pandora, but he'd rather not use anything at all! It's only been 20 years of persistent nagging that's made him realise he's actually more comfortable if he uses some Aveeno! He won't even apply that very carefully or regularly, only a minimal amount to whichever bit is itching. It's...

Hmm. Mr L uses Imperial Leather soap, antiperspirant deo, scholl athletes foot powder, and (reluctantly)Aveeno lotion when his legs itch (he has psoriasis, so this is pretty regular). He thinks he's 'high maintenance' lol!

I've a full range of rain wear, ranging from the Berghaus 100% waterproof lightweight hooded rain jacket, through unlined, 'spring weight' Lands End Squall parka to Lands End Fleece lined Squall Duffle coat to cover any eventuality. They are all 100% watertight, which I find necessary up here...

If bright colours suit you there’s no reason to save them for summer in my opinion, I like seeing colours they can really brighten up a dreary day!

I'm also a big fan of Tu. They regularly have 25% off the whole range too.

I find Hibiscrub is very effective as a footsoak/scrub, and it can be bought very cheaply from amazon. In fact, you can buy a 5L bulk container for £40. Wish I had known this years ago, but it never occurred to me until the vet advised me to use it on the dog for his skin problems!

Madaboutdogs, re the forum troubles, send a PM to Graham. I think a lot of people have had this problem, and I'm pretty sure there's a fix for it.

I’ve got the very Shark model you mention in the original post, and think it’s fab! In fact, I got rid of my Henry when I realised how good the shark is. My spaniel and cat both shed hair like there’s no tomorrow, but I find the shark the best vac I’ve ever had!
