Peter hasn’t tried reinventing himself.
Andi Peters had to reinvent himself, He was producing the O Zone, while still presenting live and kicking, so when he left that he had options, I believe he owns the production company who does the ITV Competitions, and Masterchef got him his QVC Gig
Peter Simon When he left Live and Kicking didn’t move on, and is now just a pervy act on a shopping channel.
I am surprised he isn’t turning Sally’s Christmas Lights on though
Yeah, after his heyday Andi Peters went behind the scenes in kids TV, which was smart - he had a lot of experience.
He was involved in a lot of T4 (Channel 4's 'yoof' strand on weekends back in the 90s/00s) programmes, including a few that ended up being adapted/sold to US networks. He did very well for himself tbh, and I imagine he does QVC because he
wants to, not needs to. Probably enjoys live TV, and beyond news, sports, and ITV morning shows, there's not a lot of opportunity for live presenting work these days.
Peter was always a minor role, I believe even his stints on Saturday Morning TV, were pre recorded, and inserted in, to allow the main presenters to have a break
This -
so much this.
People talk about Pedro's Children's TV career as if he was… well, Andi Peters!
But my only recollection of him is from
Run the Risk as the 'joke' cleaner who came on half-way through to be the punchline for a gag made by the main presenter (Shane Ritchie).
That was it for me. The bloke from
Bodger and Badger has more cultural claim-to-fame!
According to IMDB, on
Going Live! he was only in a couple of pre-recorded sketches, not the star of the programme.
He did present
Double Dare but I never saw that. If it was a major massive cultural touchstone that a generation of UK kids love, I'm yet to hear about it.
Otherwise, isn't his career
just selly telly? And coming 3rd (out of 2 contestants) in the 1992 Larry Grayson impersonation contest at Pontins (made that last bit up, but it's believable).
So to hear him introduce himself on IW during as BAFTA award-winning, implies he was 'not only of the Blue Peter, not only the face of Children's TV', he was asked to do
Strictly but replaced at a late stage by Allison Hammond, bags about staying with A-list stars in Hollywood…
I mean: he must be smoking that emu oil
