Today, Bennet vault, what the heck is Kammerlite?

My jewellery fellows, Today, Bennet vault, what the heck is Kammererite? I have never seen it,
Is it new, is it old? They're scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I looked that up. It's real, allegedly from the same place / miner as Csarite. You can buy it readily on etsy etc. I'd never heard of it either. It's 'new' to Gems, but 'not' to the world, it seems.

And it's best in mineral specimen form, with deep purple being most desired and not much of the snotty green host rock. Not suitable really for jewellery being very low on the mohs scale. Pendant, ok. Earrings, maybe. Ring/bracelet not.

I didn't go into the mohs side of things, but she did say that 'they' are the only ones that set it in jewellery. I've only seen it loose. Looks good though No, I didn't succumb.

I wouldn't say they're scraping the bottom of the barrel on this occasion.

It is a genuine stone and it is quite rare.

It makes a change to have something different on the channel (they also had Orange Kyanite on) - instead of the usual Jadeite crap with Dave Troth and his umpteen 30 second clocks.

It reaches from 2 to 2.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness. Extremely soft stones shouldn't be used in jewellery industry. They won't survive everyday wear.

I agree. Pendants and earrings perhaps - but I cringe when I see Fluorite bangles and stones such as Kammererite in bracelets and rings.

Again, this comes down to Gemporia and their useless 6 month warranty. They'll happily set stones like this because once its scratched after 6 months, they won't care because the warranty is up.

Monica Vinader won't set stones like this because they have a 5-year warranty - and they know for a fact they'd face claims galore.

Yes I agree, it is rare. I have 2 pieces set as earrings. Not seen it on Gemporia
