I’m a girl who loves Tech more than girly stuff maybe I'm a one off

Note I said offerings aimed more at female customers and not unisex offerings like tech!

I have no need for a ladies epilator, for instance, or eye mascara.

(Apart from my drag act at the weekends... If only. Oh geez it's like walking on eggshells these days, what with all the gender politics & culture wars...)

But you'd think tech, gadgets and kitchen kit would be universal. Everyone buys TVs, PCs, Printers, peripherals, kitchen kit.
Ao.com, Currys, all do ok selling black and white goods, so why not Q? Probably their poor price comparison on much of it, p&p, lack of recycling/disposal of old kit, unlike the stores.

Can understand nerdy, often male leaning stuff like higher-end cameras, not selling well.

Things I want to 'air' (geddit?):

- why is Ideal World Freeview/TV channel *still* displaying the "temporarily suspended" blue banner. Surely by now they know it's not returning and either take it off air or put the "in administration" message up from the web site or some other more explanatory banner. Doesn't it still cost money to be broadcasting this blue screen on the channel? Or maybe keep it active and sell channel rights to another?

- I will not buy from or use Amazon until they, like many other US 'e-corps' (gogl, meta, appl, etc.) pay fair UK tax. And Starbucks.

If everybody in UK totally boycotted Amzn for just 2 weeks they'd soon get the message.
They have UK ops, distribution, warehouses, UK website, UK transactions, UK offices, UK Cloud DCs. But route via Eire and Belgium/NL I think. Or Luxembourg.

This loop of licencing your own logo/rights back from an offshore low-tax HQ and offsetting UK profits against it, paying little or no Corporation tax, etc. is unethical and immoral.

- is anybody interested in a live watchalong for key moments, e.g. like scheduled TJC watch hour or Q food hour. Was thinking we could setup a zoom call and audio chat along (and optional cam/video for those willing to be seen!). . Or is that *too* personal, close for comfort. Forum anonymity is better?

I've never understood why they use the names of department stores that went out of business. It would never occur to me to buy a watch just because it had the same name as an old fashioned shop that closed down! And I wouldn't be fooled by the presenter saying that the product must be good, implying a connection with a presumably trusted, respectable brand.

Perhaps they'll hijack the names of former ladies clothing stores next, we could have C&A incontinence pants and Chelsea Girl surgical support stockings.

I'll shut up now as I don't want to give them ideas...

Then I'd blame their pricing, selection and presentation. That Lee Holbein not selling it well enough then. Probably not his fault, but their formal structured style of presentation. Not sexy or trendy enough!

As I say, it's not as if millions of these units aren't being purchased elsewhere, just people won't buy from Q with better deals or info available elsewhere?

I can't believe brandy, butter mince pies... No matter how good, unless they've got a kilo of edible gold in them or something.

Are they taking the proverbial p!ss???

I bought 6 (ok 3 boxes) of various luxury booze-filled (gin, rum and brandy I think they were) Xmas mince pies from Asda last year and they were fantastic and only £1.80 for 6. Plus the normal £1.20 or so ones.

I don't care if these are made on the shea butter-sodden thighs of beautiful handmaidens in the Savoy kitchens, with clotted dairy butter and the finest milled organic flour, and moistest sweetmeats known to man, I ain't paying nearly £4 each for a sodding mince pie.

Also at that price, fresh and you want me to stick it I. The **** freezer for 6 months before defrosting it, ruining it's integrity and baking it to **** in my expensive costly oven, or to a frazzle in my airfryer... C'mon, you're having a laugh?!

I was in France a couple of weeks back, Muttley. We went into a French Tesco Extra type store and to my delight.. they had a C&A clothing outlet there. I genuinely thought C&A went bust worldwide decades ago. Got some decent shorts and a polo shirt for about £20!!

I did know there were still branches abroad but I'd forgotten until you mentioned it. London had two huge branches in Oxford Street (now Primark) and one in Kensington that had a lovely cafe. I really miss C&A.

When I got my first job I got lots of new clothes in there. Happy memories, I miss C&A.

And have you noticed that in taste tests, often a cheaper brand comes out top. It doesn't necessarily mean that an expensive one is better, and taste is subjective. I always go for the top of range supermarket stuff at Christmas and sometimes they're nothing special

The only reason I would buy those QVC mince pies is if they could guarantee that George Clooney would personally deliver them to me. I'd even invite him in for a Nespresso, stop sniggering, it's a coffee not a euphemism...
