Millie also needs to be given a permanent contract.
Didn't she have one, but she was usually on at stupid o'clock. Then she left, if I recall for a makeup thing. Or has she always been freelance? I've never been that 'into' the presenters to know their work practices off-screen: unless they mention it on-screen.

Ellis got her through the doors at Gemporia - and she became a presenter on The Lounge.

I think she then went to 'overnights' on Gems TV - and then when the Lifestyle channel was launched, she became the main presenter on there alongside Ruth Linnett.

When Lifestyle closed down, Millie had nowhere to go - and was one of the presenters that was made redundant alongside some of those from Gems TV when it became apparent they had financial problems.

Millie has been 'chopped' three times now. I feel for her because they seem to call on her when desperate - but don't seem to value her when jobs have to go, despite her being one of the better presenters on the channel.

And yet they keep asking her back. So there must be a realisation that she does her job well.

Poor Steph had to put up with Dave for two and a half hours. I have noticed he talks over the presenters and cuts them off. Hard to tell if it’s just the females, as 99% of them are. I wonder what happens to all the jade they can’t sell? The grandidiershite will go on the discount wheel.

Dave talks over everyone, male or female - he even talks over himself.

Good to see Jeff on the cover of Gemology. I thought he was a “partner” at Gemporia, but maybe not. Wish they did more of an interview with him rather than top picks.

I wouldn't say she's good. She's getting too much now like her mother. Saying nonsense then stopping half way through the statement as if someone has said something to her. She'll always have the job seeing the way Ellis is up Steve Bennett's rear end.

I'm with you. She makes up stupid words like her mother, too. I remember someone once messaged in to tell her that there's no such word as 'withinside' (which there isn't - it's either 'within', or 'inside') and she replied 'Shakespeare made up words, and if it was OK for him...'.

That's very elevated company for a tele-sales girl to be counting as her equal!

I also find her garish nails and make-up far too distracting.

There was one thing she used to say which really irritated me. When speaking about a 'Rare' gemstone she would refer to it as a 'Rarity' gemstone. Needless to say, that didn't happen often!

I have to be impressed. Steph is, as I write, currently talking about Nilimani. No huge unknown knowledge, but she's actually being informative and interesting. And she's said it is not sapphire as well. A nice change to be reminded of Gemporia of old.

And “rarer”, I thought that wasn’t really correct and you were to say “more rare”, instead. Perhaps if everyone says it, it’s automatically ok.

I would just be happy if they learned when to use "is" and when to use "are". Language like: "There is seven of them." This happens all the time with multiple presenters. It's a basic thing.
