Roofix...I mean Guardian. Peter V slipped up last time but this time he made a point of not mentioning the name but said it was same parent company and used exact same demos with Roof guardian sticker on the side. It's such an odd thing.

Take a refreshing drink of Coola cola (looks exactly like coke) we've been selling Coola cola for years, remember the big red lorry at Christmas? Yeah that's us

He's speaking absolute garbage and so is his misleading demo, comparing a roof repair product with a weatherproofing paint, is utterly ridiculous, they are totally different products for different jobs.

Roof Guard/Guardian and Omni Guard come from Assured products ltd, they also produce the same products in JCB and Spear & Jackson tins. Assured products are the same folks that produces the various branded waterless wax etc, and they ain't a subsidiary of Flag Paints who are the makers of Roofix, similar but different product and two seperate companies.

To be fair he has made an effort to change over the years, so I at least give him credit for that
He has toned the ‘Act’ down, yes. But the frantic cheeky boy intent of it remains. After all, he was probably about 30 in those Bid-Up clips, and he must be early 50s now. I actually don’t particularly dislike him. He is at least relatively watchable. Put him somewhere with some sort of moral code in how they sell their wares, and with adults in charge, and he could be a valuable addition. What he does have for all to see who’ve watched over the years on air is a massive ego that sometimes manifests itself as a feigned sense of comedic self-depreciation. What I don’t like about him and all the others bar one on there, is they are all more than prepared to go along with the flawed station code of selling, misleading regularly on selective price comparisons, theatrical pricing errors and going with huge value based around totally unrealistic RRPs on watches, for example

Nothing's changed, then

Don't worry...you won't go to Hell.,
Oh, I think he might.
Especially because he seems to think it was funny (that, presumably, he’d been defrauding a lot of people, at least some of whom could ill afford it).
Mind you, least he’ll not need one of Voldemort’s radiators….

Off topic but I found this in a drawer after forgetting I had it for some years. Japanese made Seiko. Wondered if Hammy or the Professor rate it at all please?

Fantastic. Seiko 5 with the original movement (only winds through wearing - no hand winding option).
The 7S36 movement is a great one to learn with - and every single time I work on a Seiko I am in awe of the magic lever. If I lived to be 100, I’d never have thought of it - so simple and yet so elegant.
Every collection needs at least one Seiko 5 in it.

Comparing electricity costs of something rated at 1 watt and would struggle to put out the light of a birthday candle, with a 65 watt bulb.

Is that an Omega Mason wears? thought he was a Nubeo/Mann Egerton/Swan Edgar Fanboy getting all those admiring looks from lads in bars

Thanks, Hammy. If you and the Prof say a watch is good, I believe it.
Seiko owns several brands not marketed as ‘Seiko’, (Seiko Epson owns Orient, for example - but it’s run at arm’s length), but under the ‘Seiko’ name, they sell Astron, Prospex, Presage, King Seiko, 5 Sports, Coutura, Diamond, and Core.
When the watch is sold under the prestige or higher Seiko brands (Grand Seiko especially), my understanding is that the movement is always Japanese assembled.
As you go ‘down’ in prestige, then you get a mix of Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Korea - but having worked on all of them at some point, there’s no real difference in workmanship or assembly between those countries.
Grand Seiko is another level, of course. In my career, I’ve only worked on a handful, but they were all, without exception, beautifully engineered and exceptionally well made. Probably some of the very best I’ve ever seen.
But the origins of watch parts is a bit murky. Even getting away from the whole ‘Swiss Made’, ‘Swiss Movement’, ‘Swiss Parts’ debate, the major Swiss manufactures are reluctant to ever mention the ‘China’ word - but parts are definitely sourced there…
It’s also really interesting to see how much of the finishing on Swiss movements, that certain Swiss makers would have us believe is down to them, can be actually specified on the order. Everyone knows the various grades of movement ‘elabore’, ‘top’ etc that ETA used, but if the order is large enough, Selitta (for one) will apply bespoke finishing for you. In the past ETA would also provide hugely attractive finishing, if the price was right, and I sure others are the same.

It is. Hammy spotted it and once you notice, it does make you question their output. He doesn’t wear it all the time, though, especially when Kevski was on in previous IW incarnations. Peter S has a Rolex as well…
It’s odd that none of them chose those brands, though!
Almost as if they know he quality of their products…🤔

Have any of the presenters won Olympic medals in the biggest bullshitter, the most shiney, the most vacuous or the most arrogant yet? I’d love to hear who thinks these prestigious awards would go to 🤣🤣
Oops I forgot to mention that Peter Simon jas
Probably won them all, in every category ever since they began in Ancient Greece - he keeps them with his BAFTAs 😳🤣
