Oh wow, I just went back on their YouTube live stream to watch the launch at 8 PM - now that is how you launch a shopping tv channel (not that MHI seem to want to describe it as one so far.. 🤭).

Compared to the smug, self-congratulatory launches of Shop Extra and whatever Simon's flop channel was called (forgotten already haha), it's a world apart.

Incredibly professional production (from what I've watched so far), and a terrifically well-designed, cosy set that doesn't look cheap despite being quite small (IW's new studio supposedly cost millions but looks like a wonky budget hotel foyer). This channel feels very QVC Lite thus far, rather than hysterical TJC-style.

…Which makes sense since the launch is fronted by Debbie Greenwood, now she isn't overly familiar to me, but they were talking about her experience on a 'major shopping tv channel' for 12 years (I presumed QVC, most people wouldn't boast of IW). Had a Google of her, and bizarrely the first picture supposedly of her is… of DisinGenevieve.

I spoke too soon of optimism 😅

During a 'behind the scenes' tour Debbie showed off the presenter wall. And amongst the inoffensive-seeming nonentities — not a pejorative; it's nice not to see the same Bid.TV ghouls — is a blast from IW's past (see I can stay on topic): that Carys (?) woman who there during the final era of IW2 (might've been early IW3).

She always handled the items on IW with the tips of her fingers, like she was scared of being contaminated by stuff 'plebs' buy 🤭.

Must Have Ideas are a small, family run business based in Kent. They come over as very reputable, I've bought a few bits from them. Kitchen stuff, storage, cleaning stuff, all useful things. They seem to be growing a great deal. They always have offers of some sort and their customer service is excellent. Delivery is via Royal Mail.

Did they ever supply stuff to IW2? I can recall there was UK-based company who sold their products on IW (which they also sold themselves on their own website). They had a logo with a Union Jack in too. There was some drain cleaning gadget, a hanger-on-a-hanger, and other assorted Betterware-type goods.

Edit: yeah, I think it was this company as I remember the handy hooks, that female demonstrator, and that exact demo!

Also, take note TJC/IW: their demo table didn't wobble once 🤭

£50 Virgin Wines voucher? No thanks. Better wines to be bought much cheaper elsewhere, than paying the price of the voucher to contribute towards their more expensive ones - plus the hassle of cancelling afterwards if you don’t want to be tied to a minimum commitment each month. Hardly an incentive to buy from this shambles.

Yes, they did supply IW2, quite regularly: They were advertisers on several occasions and I personally worked on their first show with IW. That's another 4 people who know who I am, now. 😅

If you want my honest opinion (and I know you didn't ask for it, but here it is anyway), they were one of the nicest companies to work with, always answered our questions when it came to what they wanted to do and how they wanted to show their products. The items they sell are reasonably priced and they were honest about them, they have cheesy names but they do what they say they are going to do and sometimes exceed what you might expect at their price point.

It is a family business and they are passionate about what they do and provide good service. If you like their stuff, I would encourage you to purchase from them.

so Jeremy is flogging those fan heaters..he was pretty awful in the previous hour with Jo selling an airfryer, half the the time it looked like Jo was trying not to laugh at what Jeremy was saying, he had such a bizarre way of presenting....so back to the heating hour..do yo u hear what i hear when it goes to the break...?....i have been a member for ages, but never got the email to verify, that might not be a good thing.

he seems to have calmed down in the later hours as he was a bit manic earlier.

Yeah, I have to say: their products stood out on IW for that very reason. They sell reasonably affordable things designed to solve, help, or tackle a specific everyday problem.

Unlike like IW3's procession of bizarre tat from the far east, which often seems to be made for no real, tangible purpose — "darling, I do wish this solar torch worked in the dark. What—It also has built-in Bluetooth?!", and sold to viewers as being the answer to all kinds of bizarre, outlandish, made-up scenarios invented by the presenter on the hoof.

As MHI isn't on Freeview I doubt I'll be dropping in often, but based on what I saw on YouTube they should do well as long as they can keep reaching people. They aren't selling dreams, but they are selling problem solvers.

There was no overhyping 'this one item will change your life, make you the envy of everyone you know, something few of us could ill afford to own, people will stop and ask you about it in the street' overselling, just enthusiastic, demonstrative, but measured presentations on launch day.

Imagine that on Freeview 51.
