You made me go and look. They are 30g. Just over an once "in old money". More money than sense. So they are more than £11 each. Thankfully my bin men don't like scented candles, and my postman has said his wife has run away with the Baker so she won't need a pressie from the gifting cupboard to put on the console table. Phew! Got away with not buying this. Mind you I could buy it to "sift n sort" for secret santa or keep for unexpected visitors.

Bah humbug!!!

Call me weird (don’t all shout at once) but I’ve just worked out that at the price per gram of the wax in this set, a Yankee sized votive would cost £18.76 and a Yankee large jar size would be £238.54. And that’s only the OTO price.

I’m off to do something useful with my day now ....

I often compare the cost and burn time of other candles to YC, who I know get a bit of a rough press these days. But sometimes I quite like the look of a set and then checking the burn time find they are only going to last as long as a YC small jar whilst costing a lot more. I notice this MB set doesn’t even give the burn time! It probably works out at about £1.50 an hour!!! Now based on Andi’s calculations, I wonder if I can sell any of my large jars for £238....

To be fair though, a set of three of these candles direct from MB would be £39.00. They do come in a lovely gift box rather than a paper bag that Q are offering though. Either way, I agree with everyone else, it’s an absolutely ridiculous price for 10 hours per candle. And I’ll bet they’ve overestimated anyway and we’d be lucky to get 6-8 hours

Their Jar candles are really nice excellent quality but I was very upset when they used a t light actually imbedded in the wax ...thats obviously a cost cutting technique as the t light has displaced a good amount of wax.

Speaking of tea lights masquerading as bigger candles, I thought these looked rather nice from M&S. Sadly, reviews say they only last about 10 hours and you can't replace the candle (or batteries?) - what a shame.

I miss burning scented candles. Even the natural soy ones will trigger my allergy mildly.

I burn the odd massage candle as these are the only ones that don't bother me but they're expensive and it seems a shame to burn them without getting a massage!
