Anyone else sick and tired of these lists awarding all and sundry with honours? I have absolutely no objection to people being recognised for their hard work for charities or suchlike but why do actors/actresses, Chief Constables, MP's, former Lord Mayors, ex Dragon Den entrepeneurs, Network Rail Executives, etc., etc. need to be rewarded for doing their day-to-day jobs? Think it's time I nominated myself for being my husband's carer for the last 33+ years just to see what happens!!!!

One of my friends' her husband received a knighthood in June, she is so funny about it, as in making you laugh funny. He is a very high up scientist, I have no idea exactly why he received his "K", presumably for services to science. I suspect these honours are a way of acknowledging people and their good works, not sure I would actually accept in the unlikely scenario that I was offered one.
