Really enjoyed this show. Like Peter Sherlock.

Went to buy what Peter described as a "carnal" scent for my husband as he needs a new scent. The Equus one. £60 including postage for 75ml EDP. Then found it on Amazon for just over £25 with free UK delivery...

Gosh, that is some difference in price.

For a new item such as a scent we are unfamiliar with most would be prepared to pay a wee bit more for the 30dsy MBG but that is really taking the p&&s.

Yup Amazon is pretty good for perfume, some great savings and I also use Fragrance X too.

My friend phoned and told me to switch over. So I caught about 10 minutes at the end of the show. Jackie and Sherlock telling us the type of man who would wear it. Totally unless, sorry but give me the notes to get an idea what it will smell like.

Yes, Lalique can be bought much cheaper elsewhere, I mean paying £30+ for the MBG is taking the P. Never tried any Lalique so no idea what they are like. I am eye balling the new Tom Ford Velvet Orchid as my next purchase.

Oh and allbeauty have the brand very cheap with free shipping. There are two pages.

i caught some of the show , Peter seemed a pretty good guess , Never tried the brand before so i cant comment if its good or not .

Peter Sherlock said thay Lalique make the Tom Ford exclusive perfumes. Think he said "exclusives". Is this true?

Not as far as I know, Tom Ford is owned by Estee Lauder.

One of the noses might have worked on a Lalique perfume.

Lalique has been owned by Swiss company Art & Fragrance since 2008. From a proper perfume website.

Peter Sherlock has never been known for making true or accurate claims.

Every item in the hour can be purchased elsewhere cheaper, including the one he claimed was only available in Terminal 5 - an ASA complaint waiting to happen.

Does anyone have the details of his fragrance store which Jackie continually credited him with?

I always look at reviews on Fragrantica. I know they`re subjective but quite often they compare perfumes with other similar smelling perfumes, some of which I frequently know and then it gives me a rough idea of what kind of smell they are.
I like Jil Sander no 4 but its so hard to find and Frangrantica reviews said it smelled similar to Divine by Divine perfumes and yes they`re almost identical. So if anybody is considering blind buying any of them from Q then have a read on Fragrantica first.

I like that website too to check top and middle notes. I must admit I wouldn't buy off TV without having a spray in real life to see what it settled down like on my skin and how long it lasted. I know we've got the MBG but I really couldn't be arsed with all that. I would prefer to hunt the perfumes myself in some of the bigger cities and better stores such as Browns in York / Harrogate/ Beverley or John Lewis. Theres is a jewellers in Beverley that sells Lalique and Mullbury Hall in York does too so you may find the perfume there too.

Mum spotted two beautiful bottles of perfume in John lewis Van Cleef, the bottles were really different and gorgeous, the perfume smelled lovely too........for half and hour then vanished.

Yes, Fragrantica are excellent as are Makeup Alley and Basenotes. Real people who bought or sampled the perfumes in real life. If I am blind buying(buying without smelling), I always read them and some of the perfume bloggers before deciding. So far I have been very lucky in any blind buys and loved them.

The last one was from SpaceNK sale Morphine by X-Ray, which was £130 and I bought for £30. A niche brand so no chance of trying first. Bought it loved it. Spicy oriental.

I always read Fragrantia..sometimes Basenotes. That's how I found Escada Margaretha Ley (too expensive and discontinued) smells just like Elemis Frangipani. I knew I wanted Frangipani notes then I tracked down a sample on ebay. Delicious!!!

With the Equus one the fragrantia website describes it positively (albeit differently, lol) to peter!!! I will let you know my verdict when it arrives.

In the meantime I have warned hubby to be aware of women chasing him down the street....

The one that's only been open for days?

Won't it be naked young men if he wears Equus? Either way he should be vigilent :mysmilie_13:

I found a carnal scent. I just mixed up some Bisto gravy granules and put it in spray bottle for tuppence!

I don't really understand the concept of buying fragrances of the television. A few words can barely convey a scent and smell is such a subjective and personal thing. Yet people buy Tova in their droves! I actually got to smell it at a QVC event. 'Twas a a cloying concoction that evoked lily of the valley, dead flowers from a funerial chapel, cranberries and a bass note of cats' piss. Hardly the prelude to the romantic encounter it was painted to be. I remember Alison "My facelift surgeon is really rather better than Lulu's and I'm rather too good for this shopping channel" Keenan waxing lyrical about it when her turned up nose and expression in her eyes told a different story.

I ordered it blind off Amazon..true I may regret it but I hate sniffing perfume in department stores. Every time I try I end up getting fed up with the assistants bothering me so I leave after only a few seconds. L'Occitane stores are better because I can enter, spray what I want to try, sniff and leave before the assistant has finished serving the other customer. If I decide I want it an hour or so later I can just go back, grab it, pay and leave. :)In a department store I'm lucky if I can find what I want, and if I can...find a tester. I hate having to ask for something. I like shopping alone, and being left alone. If I go with someone else I feel under pressure to hurry up and if I go alone I end up avoiding sales assistants so don't enjoy it anyway.

Did I say I hate shopping...?
